The Heart of Christmas - Week 10
August 02, 2017
Hi there
Welcome to week 10 of Christmas inspiration from the Art with Heart Stampin' Up! team. This week I have another card in traditional Christmas colours. I received my Boxwood Wreath embellishments in the post today, so I started to play and came up with this card.
I have unravelled 2 of the small wreaths and joined them together to create the larger wreath that encircles my embossed greeting. You may need to trim off some of the leaves where you make the joins, if it looks too thick. Did you realise you can emboss all ink colours with the Stampin' Up! foam pads? As the foam ink pad delivers more ink to your image, you can quickly sprinkle on clear embossing powder and heat emboss as normal. You should have everything ready to go as you do need to be faster than when using Versamark ink.
I chose a die from the Layering Circles Framelits to match the size of my wreath and cropped the embossed greeting. The greeting circle was adhered to the largest of the scallop circles, die cut in Cherry Cobbler card stock. Glue dots were placed around the outside of the greeting circle to adhere the wreath in place.
For the background, I used the green speckled design from the 'Be Merry' designer paper pack and layered it on Cherry Cobbler card stock and onto the thick Whisper White base card. I added a strip of the hounds-tooth design matted on Cherry Cobbler down the centre to break up the solid green.
To finish I added a luscious bow to the top of the wreath with the white and silver metallic ribbon. The metallic edge ribbons are one of my absolute favourites from the many new ribbons in the Annual Catalogue. I've coloured some small silver Metallic Enamel Shapes with a marker to create berries on the wreath. I love how they retain the luminous quality. I did find them a bit tricky to adhere to the wreath and ended up using Tombow glue.
For the inside I have a strip of the Cherry Cobbler reindeer design at the base, sandwiched between 2 strips of the dottie Garden Green washi. I stamped another of the greetings from the 'Hang Your Stocking' stamp set in Garden Green ink in the centre.
Finally, here is a view from the top.

I really love your card Judy, such a gorgeous card. I was wondering how you got the red balls on the wreath. Very clever to colour the silver metallic shapes they really look great!

This is amazing Judy. Love the layout, and the little berries on the wreath. Using two wreaths looks fabulous around the greeting.

What a beautiful card Judy! I love how you've used the 2 wreaths to make a larger one and the sentiment from Hang your stocking is just perfect in the middle of this card.
