CASE-ing the Catty - Birthdays

Hi there

It's Sunday, so time for more inspiration from the Annual Catalogue with the CASE-ing the Catty Crew.  This week we are looking at the 'Birthday' section on pages 68-85.

You may have come from visiting Sandra's blog, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

'Birthday Blooms' is one of my all time favourite stamp sets. I love the two floral images and the lovely greetings with their mix of script and print fonts. I have to say that I'm not that enamoured with the sample above that was in the Annual Catalogue, but I've taken the layout and some other elements to produce my card. I did try the stamped background, but it was visually too busy for me.

To replace the background stamping, I have embossed the Sahara sand card stock with  the new 'Quilt Top' embossing folder from the upcoming Holiday Catalogue. I really love it and the reverse side looks great too.  I have heat embossed the greeting onto Vellum card stock so it wouldn't get lost in the embossing. I folded the edges of the Vellum over the Sahara Sand piece and adhered it at the back. A narrow strip of Flirty Flamingo and the 1/8" gold ribbon provide the base for the water coloured bloom that was fussy cut and popped up.

My bloom was embossed onto Shimmery White card stock and I used ink pads and an Aqua painter to colour it. The first layer of colour is Blushing Bride and the highlights are in Flirty Flamingo. You can see the Quilt Top embossing design really well in this close-up pic.

For the inside, I have used the Old Olive gingham and Flirty Flamingo flower washi at the base. I folded the gingham over at the bottom to reduce the width a little. The smaller bloom was stamped in the top right corner and coloured with Copic markers.

Finally, a view from the top.
