CASE-ing the Catty - Everyday Occasions
July 30, 2017
Hi there
This week the CTC Crew are taking another look at the Everyday Occasions section of the Annual Catalogue. I'm so glad we have another opportunity to look at this section, as there are so many inspiring samples in it.
You may have come from visiting Monique's blog, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.
I have been wanting to CASE the card in the photo above, since I first saw the new catalogue. The bouquet of flowers in the jar is so fresh and pretty and I like the Crumb Cake background for a change.
Having said I liked the Crumb Cake background on the sample card, I have used Sahara Sand for my base card and the centre art piece. It just seemed to work better with the Melon Mambo flowers and border that I had chosen. I like the effect of having a border around the art piece, but keeping the base card the same colour. It adds pop, but has continuity as well. I offset my jar slightly to the left to balance my circular greeting on the right. It has been a while since we have had a circular greeting like this and it is such a flexible one, suitable for many occasions. It comes from the 'Hello Friend' stamp set.
I have stamped the larger detailed leaf spray twice, directly onto the art piece using Wild Wasabi ink. The larger two-step flowers were stamped in Melon Mambo with the highlight also in Melon Mambo to give a subtle shading. The smaller flowers were stamped in Daffodil Delight ink and the highlights in Crushed Curry ink. The smaller leaf sprays were stamped in Garden Green ink and together with the flowers were cropped with the coordinating 'Everyday Jars' framelits. Some of the flowers are attached flat and some are popped up to add dimension and I've chosen not to stick down the tops of the die cut leaf sprays to give a 3D feel. Finally, the jar is embellished with the cute gingham bow in Night of Navy. I recommend having a bottle of 'Fray Stoppa' in your craft supplies, so that you can use it on the tails of your bows. It gives them a nice firm finish and prevents fraying.
For the inside, I have a coordinating Melon Mambo border and two strips of washi from Basics Pack 1 and 2 at the bottom. In the top right corner I've stamped the group of flowers from the 'Birthday Blossoms' stamp set and the birthday greeting in the centre is also from the same set.
Finally, here is a view from the top.
