The Heart of Christmas - Week 5
June 28, 2017
Hi there
Welcome to week 5 of Christmas inspiration from the Art with Heart Stampin' Up! team. Despite my best efforts I haven't been able to participate in the past couple of weeks, but I'm glad to be back this week. The card I'm sharing today uses a new stamp set from the 2017-18 Annual Catalogue, that isn't a Christmas stamp set, but I think it works really well for the purpose. The stamp set is 'Hello Friend' and in case you haven't seen it or can't recall it, I've included a pic below for you. It is the coordinating stamp set for the 'Hello Friend Heat Embossing Project Kit'. The kit looks fabulous, but I think the elements in the stamp set are great by themselves too.
I've used that lovely wreath as the focal point for my card, which is in traditional Christmas colours. I stamped the wreath in Garden Green ink and then die cut it with one of the scallop circle dies from the Layering Circles framelits. I cut the centre out with a smaller plain circle at the same time. You could stamp the semi-circle of small flowers directly onto the wreath, but I chose to stamp and fussy cut the single flower on the end and pop them up over the wreath.
I popped up the wreath on a panel of the Cherry Cobbler starry design from the 'Be Merry' designer paper pack. I embossed about an inch of each end of the Garden Green base layer with the Cable Knit embossing folder and then centred the Cherry Cobbler panel over the top. It is trimmed at each end with some of the yummy new gold Mini Sequin Trim, as you can never have too much bling at Christmas! The greeting from the 'Santa's Sleigh' stamp set was heat embossed in gold and flagged into a banner. I curved the banner at each end with my bone folder and placed it over the wreath, securing it in the centre and at each end. Finally, I added the gold bow at the top and some small pearls coloured with a marker on each end of the banner. You can see more of the details in this closeup.
For the inside I embossed part of the Pine Bough in the top right corner and added a strip of the Cherry Cobbler DSP at the bottom. The cute dotted washi in Garden Green adds a finishing touch.
Finally, he is a view from the top, that shows up all the gorgeous gold bling.
