The Heart of Christmas - Week 5

HoC_Header

Hi there

Welcome to week 5 of Christmas inspiration from the Art with Heart Stampin' Up! team. Despite my best efforts I haven't been able to participate in the past couple of weeks, but I'm glad to be back this week.  The card I'm sharing today uses a new stamp set from the 2017-18 Annual Catalogue, that isn't a Christmas stamp set, but I think it works really well for the purpose.  The stamp set is 'Hello Friend' and in case you haven't seen it or can't recall it, I've included a pic below for you. It is the coordinating stamp set for the 'Hello Friend Heat Embossing Project Kit'. The kit looks fabulous, but I think the elements in the stamp set are great by themselves too.

Hello_Friend

I've used that lovely wreath as the focal point for my card, which is in traditional Christmas colours. I stamped the wreath in Garden Green ink and then die cut it with one of the scallop circle dies from the Layering Circles framelits. I cut the centre out with a smaller plain circle at the same time. You could stamp the semi-circle of small flowers directly onto the wreath, but I chose to stamp and fussy cut the single flower on the end and pop them up over the wreath.

I popped up the wreath on a panel of the Cherry Cobbler starry design from the 'Be Merry' designer paper pack. I embossed about an inch of each end of the Garden Green base layer with the Cable Knit embossing folder and then centred the Cherry Cobbler panel over the top. It is trimmed at each end with some of the yummy new gold Mini Sequin Trim, as you can never have too much bling at Christmas! The greeting from the 'Santa's Sleigh' stamp set was heat embossed in gold and flagged into a banner. I curved the banner at each end with my bone folder and placed it over the wreath, securing it in the centre and at each end.  Finally, I added the gold bow at the top and some small pearls coloured with a marker on each end of the banner. You can see more of the details in this closeup.

For the inside I embossed part of the Pine Bough in the top right corner and added a strip of the Cherry Cobbler DSP at the bottom. The cute dotted washi in Garden Green adds a finishing touch.

Finally, he is a view from the top, that shows up all the gorgeous gold bling.

This week, I'm CASE-ing the layout in the card above. I also really liked the gold embossing and gold trim at the bottom, which is one of the designs from the gorgeous 'Bundle of Love' designer paper pack.

Stampin' Up! Thoughts & Prayers for CASE-ing the Catty - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I have used the lovely tree design from the 'Thoughts & Prayers' stamp set as my focal image.  This is such a classic image and can be used for many occasions, however, I've paired it with the coordinating sentiments for a sympathy card. I masked the bottom part of the greeting to just have the 'thinking of you'.  The base card is thick Very Vanilla card stock with the Blushing Bride layered on top. The tree and sentiment have been heat embossed in gold and I have used the arrow design from the Bundle of Love designer paper for the trim at the base.  This is such a great paper pack, with gold foil designs on one side and either Blushing Bride or Soft Sky in the same design on the reverse. It is perfect for packaging, babies and just about everything else too. I added some pearls for an elegant and understated finishing touch.

CTC134_Thoughts_Closeup

The art panel sits on the vellum card stock, which has a lovely softening effect as it extends out each side. You can see all the luscious gold embossing and the gold foil designer paper in this closeup.

For the inside, I have a Blushing Bride mat and a strip of the gold foil DSP at the bottom. I have heat embossed in gold one of the lovely sentiments from 'Thoughts and Prayers in the centre.

AWH - Favourite Bundle

Hi there

AWH_Logo_2017

Today the Art with Heart Team girls are showing you their favourite bundles from the 2017 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue. Bundles make creating a breeze, because of the perfect coordination. It's a bonus that you get 10% off by bundling the products together too. There are 24 bundles in the new catalogue so ask us about them, or for a catalogue today!

Today, I'm sharing a project with the Daisy Delight bundle. This bundle has been soooo popular that all of the stock that was intended to last for months has been sold in weeks. Never fear, it will be back.  Products in the bundle are the 'Daisy Delight' stamp set and the fabulous Daisy Punch. It also coordinates with the Delightful Daisy designer paper and the Faceted Gems.

I've made a fancy fold card that uses all of these products. It is called a Double Display card and I saw a tutorial by Amanda Bates. Her card is 6" square, using 12 x 12 card stock.  I wanted to use our A4 card stock and have altered it to fit and also to make it slightly smaller (it is rectangular).

This is the card closed with the belly around it and resting on the custom box-elope as it is quite thick when folded. The base card is Soft Sky and I've used Wisteria Wonder and Calypso Coral as accent colours with the gorgeous floral design from the Delightful Daisy paper pack.

This is the card fully open. I have used the small floral design paper on the inside panels. In the centre the Wisteria background has been embossed with the Petal Burst embossing folder. I have used the Happy Birthday Thinlits for a bold greeting, cut from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer. I have created a shadow using Silver Foil underneath and slightly offset, which is easier to see in the close-up below.

Double_Display_Closeup

I have added a writing panel on the reverse of the centre panel, with a DSP trim and simple stamped flower from the Daisy Delight stamp set.

For the belly band, I have placed a stitched circle underneath and the Calypso Coral banner on top, as I didn't want the Wisteria circle to be too dominant. In the centre is my fluffy white daisy with Calypso Coral and So Saffron centre, topped with a clear Faceted Gem.

CASE-ing the Catty - Love & Sympathy

Hi there

This week the CTC Crew are looking at the Love & Sympathy section of the new Annual Catalogue on pages 86-101.

You may have come from visiting Rebecca's blog, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

It has been a difficult week for us, as we had to put our beautiful silver Bengal cat Artie to sleep, after he had a stroke. Our pets become part of the family and their passing brings much sadness. This card is for everyone who needs a little extra TLC this week.

I'm CASE-ing the card above from the 'Whole Lot of Lovely' suite on page 86 of the Annual Catalogue. I love all the products in this suite and I've only managed to use a few of them this week.  I look forward to coming back to this suite soon.

Stampin' Up! Lots of Love for CASE-ing the Catty - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I wanted a softer feel to my card, so I've used Basic Gray for the 'sending love' greeting, rather than black. I stamped the 'love' again and fussy cut and popped it up on the stamped image. I used a combination of markers and ink pads to stamp the rest of the cute floral elements that surround the large greeting. This stamp set is perfect for using your Stampin' Write markers to get the detail you want.

CTC133_Lovely_Closeup

I adhered the art panel to thick Whisper White card stock before adding some of the new Pool Party Shimmer ribbon around the top, with a little string of the new Mini Sequin trim in gold. I popped up the whole panel onto the Powder Pink card base. This is my first use of this colour and it is very pretty and I love it with Pool Party and grey.

CTC133_Lovely_Inside

For the inside, I have a Pool Party mat and some of the lovely new washi tape from the Basics Packs at the bottom for a simple and sweet finish.

CASE-ing the Catty - Birthdays!

We're back CASE-ing the new Annual Catalogue and taking inspiration from the Birthdays section this week on pages 68-85.

You may have come from visiting Julia's blog, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

CTC132_SU_Sample

I've been looking forward to breaking open the new Foil Frenzy Specialty Designer Series paper, so I've used the samples in the photo above for my inspiration. If you haven't already guessed, I can't get enough of the gorgeous new In Colour Berry Burst, as I'm a pink girl from way back. I also love making packaging, so I decided to go with a gift box as well.

Stampin' Up! Gift Box with Foil Frenzy Specialty DSP & Happy Birthday Gorgeous for CASE-ing the Catty - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I've sized my gift box  at 5.75" x 8" x 1.25" deep to fit some stamping goodies. I made the base of the box from Berry Burst card stock and the top from the new Foil Frenzy DSP.  The Foil Frenzy paper is thicker than the usual designer series paper, but not as heavy as card stock, so I cut the lid to have an extra width on all sides to turn in, to make it stronger. I also lined the inside of the lid with Berry Burst card stock.  Doesn't that gorgeous foil on the Kraft background pack a punch of yummy!

Stampin' Up! Gift Box with Foil Frenzy Specialty DSP & Happy Birthday Gorgeous for CASE-ing the Catty - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

To decorate the box, I have stayed with the layer of Vellum card stock down the centre of the lid with the Berry Burst ribbon. The embellishment is a mash-up of both samples, with the largest of the 'Lots of Labels' Framelits used to cut the Lemon Lime Twist background, which is a bright contrast to the Kraft and Berry Burst. I added the Delicate White doily and the Soft Sky circle frames the greeting that has been cropped with the second largest of the Stitched Shapes circles. I've used the 'Happy Birthday Gorgeous' stamp set for the greeting and the fussy cut flowers decorating the edge. This is fast becoming a go-to stamp set. You can see these details in the close-up pic below.

Stampin' Up! Gift Box with Foil Frenzy Specialty DSP & Happy Birthday Gorgeous for CASE-ing the Catty - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

All of the flower outlines were stamped in Berry Burst and the small ones were stamped again in Powder Pink. I stamped off with Berry Burst for the large flower. I like the softening effect of the Soft Sky frame.
