CASE-ing the Catty - Birthdays!
June 11, 2017
We're back CASE-ing the new Annual Catalogue and taking inspiration from the Birthdays section this week on pages 68-85.
You may have come from visiting Julia's blog, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.
I've been looking forward to breaking open the new Foil Frenzy Specialty Designer Series paper, so I've used the samples in the photo above for my inspiration. If you haven't already guessed, I can't get enough of the gorgeous new In Colour Berry Burst, as I'm a pink girl from way back. I also love making packaging, so I decided to go with a gift box as well.
I've sized my gift box at 5.75" x 8" x 1.25" deep to fit some stamping goodies. I made the base of the box from Berry Burst card stock and the top from the new Foil Frenzy DSP. The Foil Frenzy paper is thicker than the usual designer series paper, but not as heavy as card stock, so I cut the lid to have an extra width on all sides to turn in, to make it stronger. I also lined the inside of the lid with Berry Burst card stock. Doesn't that gorgeous foil on the Kraft background pack a punch of yummy!
To decorate the box, I have stayed with the layer of Vellum card stock down the centre of the lid with the Berry Burst ribbon. The embellishment is a mash-up of both samples, with the largest of the 'Lots of Labels' Framelits used to cut the Lemon Lime Twist background, which is a bright contrast to the Kraft and Berry Burst. I added the Delicate White doily and the Soft Sky circle frames the greeting that has been cropped with the second largest of the Stitched Shapes circles. I've used the 'Happy Birthday Gorgeous' stamp set for the greeting and the fussy cut flowers decorating the edge. This is fast becoming a go-to stamp set. You can see these details in the close-up pic below.
All of the flower outlines were stamped in Berry Burst and the small ones were stamped again in Powder Pink. I stamped off with Berry Burst for the large flower. I like the softening effect of the Soft Sky frame.

Pink Packaging - a perfect combination Judy! That DSP looks stunning and I also love the softening effect of the Soft Sky frame - a great balance to the brightness of the Lemon Lime Twist & Berry Burst.
