CASE-ing the Catty - Everyday Occasions
June 04, 2017
Hi there
Welcome to the new 2017-18 Annual Catalogue! I hope you are enjoying browsing the new products and samples as much as I am. There is so much to take in and I keep seeing new things I didn't notice the first or second time. This week the Crew are taking inspiration from the Everyday Occasions section of the catalogue, which is very extensive.
You may have come from visiting Julia's blog, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.
I have chosen the sample above to CASE this week. I love the layout and the lovely background using the new 'Burlap' background stamp and the Garden Trellis embossing folder, which are in my first order, currently in transit. I decided to make a masculine card using the layout and products I already have, plus some of the new Eastern Palace Speciality Designer paper. I hope the end result qualifies as masculine, lol, as it is pretty bright!
My base card is Pacific Point and I've added a layer of Lemon Lime Twist that I have stamped with the cross-hatch stamp from the 'Best Birds' stamp set in Lemon Lime Twist ink. It adds interest without taking over, in the same way the Burlap backgrounds does in the sample. I have used two of the designs from the Eastern Palace Speciality DSP for my banners. To make them more robust, I adhered them to Very Vanilla card stock first, before cutting them with the Banner Triple punch.
I have used the stamp set 'Super Duper' that carried over from the Occasions Catalogue, for my greeting. I'm glad it did carry over, as I haven't inked it up until now. It is stamped in Pacific Point with the smaller greeting in Lemon Lime Twist and then cropped with the Stitched Shapes Framelits. This closeup shows the background and the greeting more clearly and the silver metallic stars that I added for the finishing touch.
For the inside, I have a Lemon Lime Twist mat and a small strip of the matching DSP at the bottom. I stamped the large greeting from the 'Super Duper' stamp set in Lemon Lime Twist on the writing panel and then again in Pacific Point on a separate piece. I fussy cut the 'super duper' banner and adhered it over the top of the stamped image.

The stamped background really breaks up the brightness of the Lemon Lime Twist. I love your take on the original.

Wonderful card Judy!! Thank you for the tip about the banners. I honestly hadn't thought to do that but it's such a great idea. Great colour combo and I love that the inside of your card looks just as good as the front. Awesome work Judy!
