CASE-ing the Catty - Inspired by Favourite Kit
May 14, 2017
Hi there
This week the CTC Crew are taking inspiration from project kits from either the Occasions or the Annual Catalogues.
You may have come from the blog of the super talented Kelly Kent, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.
This week, I have chosen the 'Perfectly Wrapped' Project Kit on page 159 of the Annual Catalogue for my inspiration. This is such a great kit with everything you need to make 8 bags and 8 boxes for gift giving. However, I want to show you what I have made using supplies I had on hand, plus my favourite 'Pop of Pink' Designer Series Paper.
First up, I made the little treat box, using the Clear Tiny Treat Boxes (page 176 of the Annual Catalogue). They are so cute and perfect for a small gift such as jewellery, favours for weddings or events. I cut a 5.1cm (2") strip of the gold flecked design from the Pop of Pink DSP pack and then scored it at 5cm with my trimmer and it fits perfectly into the box. I added a small gold doily to the top and a 1" black circle forms the base for the Melon Mambo bow which is the perfect size for this treat box. I added some gold sequin trim and a flagged greeting from the 'Designer Tin of Cards' stamp set. This is a fabulous set with a great range of large and small greetings.
The gift bag starts with the flat 15.2cm x 20.3cm Cellophane Bags (also page 176 of the Annual Catalogue). To create a base in the bag, I flattened and folded over the corners and used a glue dot to hold them in place as shown in the pic below. I folded over 1", so the base of my bag becomes 2", so you can decide how large or small you want the base to be.
I cut a 3 3/4" wide strip of the Melon Mambo striped design from the Pop of Pink DSP pack and then scored it at 1", 3", 9 3/4" with my Scoring Board and cut it at 10 3/4". I popped the scored strip into the bag and used glue dots to attach the DSP (at the 9 3/4" score line) to the top of the bag. The flap then folds over the front and is held in place by the Gold Binder Clips.
With the bag done, it is a matter of decorating the front and the banner makes the perfect backdrop. You can attach it to the front flap or just hold it in place with the binder flip. I stamped another greeting from the 'Designer Tin of Cards' stamp set in Melon Mambo and then went over the top of the 'fantastic' with a black Stampin' Write marker and cropped it with one of the Stitched Shapes circles. It is matted on a 2" circle of Melon Mambo and then popped up on the large gold doily. I finished it with a gold glimmer heart and a string of the gold sequin trim. I was really pleased with the way it turned out and shows how easy it is to create gift bags with a pack of beautifully coordinated designer series paper. Here is a closeup of the details.
