CASE-ing the Catty - Sale-a-bration Again

CTC_Blog_Banner_edited

Hi there

This week the CTC crew are taking inspiration from pages 12-15 of the Sale-a-bration brochure.

You may have come from looking at the beautiful project  on Bronwyn's blog, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

This week I have chosen to case the great layout of this card on the left of page 12.

    CTC117_SU_Sample

I've got 2 cards to share with you using this layout, which is really flexible. I had lots of ideas in mind and the cards came together quickly. The first one uses the floral die cut from the Flourish Thinlit dies over one of my favourite Stitched Shapes circles. The background is Crumb Cake embossed with the Woodgrain embossing folder over the Rose Red base card. The photo doesn't do justice to the gorgeous Mint Macaron glimmer paper from the Glimmer Paper Assortment pack, that I have used for the flourish. This is one of the new Sale-a-bration options available to choose until 31 March.

This closeup pic shows up the colour of the glimmer paper.

For the inside, I have used some of the offcuts of glimmer paper to cut some leaves for the corner and a strip at the base for a simple finish.

 Ink Rose Red
Accessories White Sequins (Cupcakes & Carousels Embellishment Kit), Rhinestones Basic Jewels
Tools     Woodgrain TIEF, Flourish Thinlit Dies, Stitched Shapes Framelits, Big Shot

The second card also came together quickly. I have used the 'Up & Away' Thinlits dies and the coordinating 'Lift Me Up' stamp set for this card. This time, I have used the large cloud as my grounding element for the die cut balloon to sit on.  The base card is Basic Gray with the Soft Sky layer embossed with the Elegant Dots embossing folder. I could easily have left it plain, but I quite like the background texture.

Here is a closeup of the detail in the balloon. This is such a great die and perfect for masculine cards.

For the inside, I added some of the retired striped washi from the Candy Cane Lane set at the base with a strip of Night of Navy to trim it and the smaller balloon stamped, coloured and die cut in the top right corner.

CASE-ing the Catty - Succulent Garden

CTC_Blog_Banner_edited

Hi there

It is Sunday again and the CTC Crew are taking inspiration from the Succulent Garden Suite (pages 20 - 31) in the Occasions Catalogue this week.

You may have come from looking at the gorgeous project  on Tricia's blog, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

This week I have chosen to case the layout of this card at the top of page 20 of the Occasions catalogue.

   CTC116_SU_Sample

I've kept fairly close to the layout, but have added a few more layers to my card and placed the greeting banner at the top instead of the bottom.  I stamped out a bunch of the 'Oh So Succulent' images onto water colour paper using Basic Gray Archival ink. I like the slightly softer effect of this ink when colouring. I Googled images of succulents and was surprised to see the variety of colour combinations so I got out a pile of ink pads and got busy with my Aqua Painter. It is fabulous that there are coordinating framelits to crop all of the images.

I love layered cards and Rich Razzleberry and Sweet Sugarplum are a match made in heaven (IMHO!). I used the 'Hardwood' background for a garden feel, stamping in Sahara Sand on Sahara Sand card stock and sponging around the edges with Crumb Cake. Instead of the succulents hanging from the top of the art piece, I have chosen to use a bowl. I cut a circle from Cajun Craze card stock, trimmed off the bottom and sponged around the edges. It provides a bold colour contrast for the succulents. In case you're wondering, I used the largest of the square Stitched Shapes framelits to create the rectangular base of my art piece.

You can see in this closeup pic, that the succulents are layered at different heights for dimension and I added a very light shadow under the pot to 'ground' it.

For the inside, I have used some of the Sweet Sugarplum washi from the Playful Palette set and layered a few of the leftover succulents in the corner.

Sparkle & Shine!

Hi there

I have a couple of sweet and simple cards to share today. I have combined 2 of the 3 fabulous NEW Sale-a-bration products that will be available for you to choose with a $90 product order from Tuesday 21 February.

The first product is this pack of 12, 6 x 6 sheets of gorgeous glimmer paper in Sweet Sugarplum, Mint Macaron and Bermuda Bay. You have to see this in real life to appreciate the gorgeous sparkle. It also co-ordinates with the Cupcakes & Carousels, Falling in Love and Succulent Garden suites from the Occasions Catalogue.

Screen Shot 02-18-17 at 11.55 AM

The second of the new Sale-a-bration options I have used is the 'Make A Medallion' photopolymer stamp set. It is a set of 8 stamps for 2-step stamping, giving you a number of combinations to use. It also co-ordinates with the Layering Circles Framelits dies and you get 3 versatile greetings to use as well.

Make_a_Medallion

Now for the cards I made. The first uses the Sweet Sugarplum glimmer paper and I co-ordinated it with the stamped medallion in Rich Razzleberry and Sweet Sugarplum. I used the new Hexagon Dynamic embossing folder for the crisp white background. Make sure you  give the back of your card stock a light spritz with water for a fabulous result with this embossing folder.

The base card is Smoky Slate and I added a mat of Sweet Sugarplum to tie it all together. The greeting is heat embossed in white and punched out with the Classic Label punch. Here is a close-up of the glimmer paper.

The second card uses the stunning Bermuda Bay glimmer paper and the stamped medallion combines Pool Party and Bermuda Bay. I have chosen to leave some white space around the medallion, but you can crop it closer with a smaller Layering Circle framelit.

This time I used my favourite 'Softly Falling' embossing folder for the background to the flagged glimmer paper. Here is a close-up that shows the amazing sparkle.

Which colour do you prefer?  I can't choose - they are both so pretty.  These thank you cards will be winging their way to some lovely customers in the near future.

CASE-ing the Catty - More Sale-a-bration

CTC_Blog_Banner_edited

Hi there

The CTC crew are taking inspiration from pages 8-11 of the Sale-a-bration brochure this week. There are so many great samples in this small brochure.

You may have come from looking at the fabulous project on Mel's blog, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

The project I have chosen to CASE this week is the card on the right in the photo below. The 'Delicate Details' stamp set was one of my first choices as a FREE gift during this Sale-a-bration and this is my first opportunity to ink it up.

  CTC115_SU_Sample

I decided to create a lacy border as shown in the sample, bending the first of the lace stamps into a semi-circle.  To get the desired shape, I die cut the circle and used it as a template to bend the lace stamp into position. You can see that I also used a bit of washi tape to help keep it in place.

CTC115_DD_Setup

By stamping twice, I created the lacy circle which forms the border for the greeting on my card. I stamped it in Crumb Cake ink onto one of the Bokeh designs from the lovely 'Falling in Love' designer series paper from the Occasions Catalogue.

Stampin' Up! Delicate Details Sale-a-bration with Falling in Love DSP for CASE-ing the Catty - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

My card took a few twists and turns before arriving at the final result. Originally I envisaged it as a portrait card, but then decided the bow worked better with more space.  So the join that should have been hidden by the ribbon is in full view at the top and bottom in my landscape card.  I don't think it is too noticeable though and I didn't want to waste the beautiful 'Falling in Love' designer series paper.

  CTC115_Delicate_Details_Clo

You can see the detail of the lace stamp in this closeup pic. I've kept the centre circle simple, stamping the greeting from 'Butterfly Basics' in Soft Suede ink onto Very Vanilla card stock. I cropped it with one of the 'Stitched Shapes' framelits and popped it up on the Blushing Bride circle. It is trimmed with some punched flowers and pearls. The 1/4" Very Vanilla satin ribbon is new in the Occasions Catalogue and is beautifully soft and easy to work with.

CTC115_Delicate_Details_Ins

For the inside, I have used some of the Crumb Cake washi from the Tasty Treats set and stamped the flower cluster from Birthday Blossoms to finish.

While I had the lace stamp in position, I decided to stamp a few more images and this is one of the other cards I made. This particular section of the Falling in Love DSP has more brown tones in it, so I changed it up a bit with a border of Very Vanilla to brighten it and then the base card of Blushing Bride.  I love that the greeting I used from the 'Designer Tin of Cards' could work for a wedding or birthday card.

Total Cuteness

Hi there

I've been having a play with the 'Moon Baby' stamp set from the new Occasions Catalogue. This has to be one of THE cutest stamp sets for welcoming a new baby, that Stampin' Up! have released. I'm giving you advance warning of cuteness overload!

I took up the challenge to make a baby girl card with this stamp set, after one of my lovely team members mentioned that it seemed to be primarily used in baby boy cards. In the end, I made one of each, although the second one is really gender neutral. In case you haven't seen it, here is the stamp set. It has the 3 main line images that are perfect for colouring and a number of greetings.

Moon_Baby_Stamp_Set

You could use Stampin' Write markers, the new Watercolour Pencils or ink pads and Aqua Painter to colour these cute images. I chose to use my ink pads and Aqua Painter after stamping the image in Basic Gray Archival ink onto the Shimmery White card stock. I coloured just the moon on this image.  I stamped a second image on a scrap piece of Shimmery White and coloured just the baby this time. I fussy cut the image and popped it up over the baby on my art piece. I then stamped the baby again onto Blushing Bride card stock and fussy cut the onsie this time and then adhered it to the baby on my art piece.

I chose Blushing Bride as the feature colour for the card. The art piece is layered onto sparkly Blushing Bride Glimmer paper and finished with the matching stitched satin ribbon. The greeting is heat embossed in copper as it works so well with Blushing Bride. I love that Stampin' up! makes creating so easy with all the coordinating products.

Moon_Baby_Pink_Closeup

This pic shows the fussy cut baby popped up with the paper pieced onsie. I added some shading to the onsie with a marker and blender pen. Isn't it a cute image.

Moon_Baby_Pink_Env

I stamped the image of the toys on the envelope and coloured it with Copic markers.  In the background, you can also see the lovely copper embossing on the greeting.

Moon_Baby_Pink_Inside

For the inside, I've stamped the other baby image onto Shimmery White card stock and water coloured it as well. I finished it with a strip of Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper and some tiny rhinestones on the onesie.

I made the second card in exactly the same design, but this time I used Pool Party and Silver Glimmer for a boy/gender neutral option.

Finally, here is a pic of both the colour ways together. Which is your favourite?

CASE-ing the Catty - Sending Love

CTC_Blog_Banner_edited

Hi there

Can you believe how quickly the weeks have already gone this year?  We are into our second month of the new Occasions Catalogue and the CTC Crew are taking inspiration from the 'Sending Love' section on pages 14 -19.

You may have come from looking at the fabulous project on Mel's blog, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

The project I have chosen to CASE this week is the the little card tucked into the left pigeonhole in the photo below. Those cute little envelopes and the colour combo took my eye (Soft Sky and Real Red is one of my favourites).

CTC114_SU_Sample

I don't have the 'Sealed with Love' stamp set and the coordinating Love Notes Framelits Dies, but a lovely friend gave me the 'Sending Love' 6 x 6 designer paper stack and that was enough to get me started.  I made my little envelopes (sooo cute!) with the Envelope Punch Board. Yes, you really can make envelopes that small! The lovely greeting is from the 'Lift Me Up' stamp set and is perfect when you want to let someone know you are thinking of them.

Stampin' Up! Sending Love for CASE-ing the Catty - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

If you haven't already found it, there is a fabulous tool created by Carole in the UK that gives you the paper size and score line for any card measurements you enter. It took me a couple of prototypes to get the proportions right (a mm either way makes a big difference at this size), but I was happy with the finished result. If you would like to make some, cut the DSP 6.5cm square and the score line is at 3.6cm. Here is a closeup of the envelopes and the sweet wooden heart from the 'Sending Love' Embellishments pack.

Stampin' Up! Sending Love for CASE-ing the Catty - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I've embossed the Soft Sky background with the new  'Falling Petals' embossing folder. This embossing folder gives a very deep impression, so to prevent cracking, I recommend a light spritz with water on the back of the card stock before embossing. To tone done the intensity, I popped the embossed piece between 2 pieces of 1mm chipboard (in lieu of the embossing folder) and ran it through the Big Shot again. You can see from the closeup it is still raised, but looks softer. I drew the little note by hand using the note image from 'Lift Me Up' as a guide, as it was too small for my envelope.

CTC114_Send_Love_Inside

For the inside, I have stamped the flourish from the Bloomin' Love stamp set at the top and bottom for a simple finish.
