CASE-ing the Catty - More Sale-a-bration
January 29, 2017
Hi there
I hope you are enjoying the lovely products in the Sale-a-bration promotion as much as I am. This week the CTC Crew are CASE-ing projects from pages 4 -7 of the Sale-a-bration brochure.
You too can get your hands on FREE goodies from the Sale-a-bration Catalogue by spending $90 (before shipping) on products from any of the current Stampin' Up! catalogues. There is a super range of options to choose from, including stamp sets, designer paper, embellishments and a card kit. If you don't yet have an Occasions or Sale-a-bration catalogue, you can leave your details here and I will pop one in the post for you.
You may have come from looking at the lovely creation on Julia's blog, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.
The project I have chosen to CASE this week is the card on the right in the photo below. When you see my card, you might wonder about that, lol. It is amazing where the creative journey can take you, once you get started.
I was drawn to the layout of this card and how pretty the copper spotted washi looked on the Flirty Flamingo card stock. I've stayed with the Flirty Flamingo card stock and the copper spotted washi, as well as the greeting stamped on vellum, which I've embossed with the gorgeous copper embossing powder. If you haven't tried it yet, then you don't know what you're missing. It is so luscious!
I have used the white panel as a background, embossing it with the 'Softly Falling' embossing folder and then wrapping the embossed birthday greeting around it. I've stamped the flower spray onto Whisper White and then die cut it with my favourite 'Stitched Shapes' framelits and coloured just the stem on the image. The flower head was stamped again on another piece of card stock and coloured with Copic markers. I fussy cut the flower head and popped it up over the main image, which is matted on a copper foil scalloped oval (although it looks more like gold in the photo). You can see it more clearly in this close-up pic.
I've finished my card with a double bow of Baker's twine and a row of Flirty Flamingo enamel dots in the top right corner. Did you notice the colour of the Baker's Twine - isn't it pretty? No, it isn't in the catalogue, but you can easily create your own colour matched Baker's twine by soaking the white twine in a little water and a couple of drops of re-inker.
For the inside, I have replicated the basic layout in reverse and I really like how it turned out. I love the copper washi; can't believe I haven't used it until now.

The second project I have to share is based on this square card on page 6 of the Sale-a-bration catalogue.
I love square cards and couldn't pass up the opportunity to use more of the 'Succulent Garden' designer series paper. After cutting into the pack last week for my Petite Cafe Bag project, I thought it would work really well on this layout.
The base card is Sweet Sugarplum and the popped up mat is Pool Party. I've used the 2 gingham designs with 2 of the floral designs for the squares and a new Lace Doily layered over a scalloped circle for my centrepiece. I love the new lace doilies and they are so flexible, being white on one side and vanilla on the other. The stitched circle provides a great finishing touch, along with a little row of pearls each side. The finished card is 12cm x 12cm (4.75" x 4.75").
Here is a close-up that shows the lovely lace doily and the layered banner in more detail.
I've kept the inside simple, with a strip of DSP down the left side and a narrow border of Sweet Sugarplum.
