CASE-ing the Catty - Warmth & Cheer
October 02, 2016
Hi there
Welcome to the CASE-ing the Catty blog hop on this first Sunday in October. Isn't it scary how quickly the year is disappearing? I hope we can provide some inspiration to help you with your holiday crafting. We are CASE-ing from the 'Warmth and Cheer' section of the Holiday Catalogue this week.
You may have come here from Elizabeth's blog, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.
This week I have used the layout of this card from page 15 of the Holiday Catalogue as my inspiration. I don't have the Christmas Stockings bundle, but that is OK, as CASE-ing is about taking the inspiration and improvising with your own supplies.
In this case I have replaced the stocking with an ornament from the 'Embellished Ornaments' stamp set, that is still available in the Annual Catalogue. Because the ornament is quite large, I have made my card 13.5cm (5 1/4") square to use the same layout as the sample and keep it all in proportion. I have used the lovely Mint Macaron design from the 'Presents & Pinecones' DSP for the background as well and the gorgeous stripes, which is the reverse side of the pine cones used in the sample.
You might be wondering where the banner is, but I have replaced it with the gorgeous Cherry Cobbler taffeta ribbon that I have finished in a bow. Doesn't it look luscious? The greeting has been embossed in copper and I've used copper foil accents on the ornament, although it looks like gold in the photo. A sharpie marker was used to colour match the pearls. Here is a closeup that shows the copper accents.
As you can see, I have added more layers than in the original sample, so I went with a double mat on the inside and some of the striped paper at the bottom. The holly is also from the 'Embellished Ornaments' stamp set, stamped in Emerald Envy and I've punched out some Cherry Cobbler berries to add to it.

When we get a new catalogue we sometimes forget about our Christmas stamp sets that are in the Annual Catalogue, great to see you inspired to use the template with one of the older sets.

Oops! I thought the stocking card was yours, that is what I get for not reading properly lol! But I do love your case using the Ornament stamp, and yes that is what it is all about using what you have and changing a design, great CASEing!

Your card is so beautiful Judy. I love all the little details and the copper coloured pearls are divine. You have inspired me to get out my enbellished ornaments again!
