CASEing the Catty - For Birthdays
August 14, 2016
Hi there
I'm pleased to be back tonight with the CTC Crew to provide more inspiration from the 'Birthdays' section of the 2016-17 Annual Catalogue. It has been a busy few weeks for me, having been away for a week of sunshine in New Caledonia and then taking on a commission to make 230 party favour boxes as soon as I returned and a class this afternoon. I hope that life will slow down a little bit now, so I can get back to my craft desk and enjoy being creative.
You may have come from Julia's Blog, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.
This is the Stampin' Up! sample from the bottom right corner of page 10 that I have used for my inspiration. I have taken the basic layout from the sample card and added some extra layers. I've also used the colours from the 'Festive Birthday' DSP, changing it up a bit from the sample.
For the focal image, I have inked up the 'Sweet Cupcake' stamp set for the first time to create a yummy looking cupcake. I have never succumbed to any of the cupcake cake stamps/punches up to now. This stamp set with the coordinating 'Cupcake Cutouts' Framelits is such a great combination. I love that the cupcake is so realistic and there are lots of greetings to go with it. There are lots of great extras in the framelits in addition to the cup cake top, base and candle. There is the lovely script words 'sweet' and 'wish', a 3D banner and the 'loopy line'.
The frosting on the cupcake uses 3 shades of Melon Mambo to coordinate with the background that has been dry embossed with the 'Festive' embossing folder. I started with the solid image (#3) stamped off twice, the next most solid (#2) stamped off once and the highlight image (#1) in full strength Melon Mambo. I added some extra subtle sparkle with Wink of Stella over the top. For the base of the cupcake I used the same order of stamps in Crumb Cake (#3), Soft Suede (#2) and Early Espresso (#1). The 'sweet' has been die cut from the coordinating set of 'Cupcake Cutouts' framelits in silver glimmer and the other words are from the 'Thoughtful Banners' stamp set.
For the inside I have added a fun touch with the 'loopy line' I mentioned previously, at the bottom with a little bling on each end.
I really like this simple layout and I'm sure I will be using it again in the future.

Judy I just realized in my previous comment that I said it was a Camel instead of a Llama, have no idea where that came from lol! But I still love that little cupcake the best.
