CASE-ing the Catty - Love & Sympathy

Hi there

I'm glad to be back this week with the CASE-ing the Catty Crew looking at the 'Love & Sympathy' section of the new 2016-17 Annual Catalogue. I've had a very hectic couple of weeks making DSP swatch books and preparing for and holding my first little catalogue launch.  I will show you a bit more about that during the week.

You may have come from Rebecca's Blog, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

It is great to finally have time to break out a few more of my new products from the Annual Catalogue. This week I was inspired by this gift/treat bag project on page 47.

I have used the treat bag as a layout for my card; with the folded section on the left represented by the strip of  lovely 'Blooms & Bliss' designer paper. I added some of the Sweet Sugarplum Envelope Paper on the right hand side to provide more of a contrast and a very narrow strip of Mint Macaron between the two. I love the subtle dots pattern on this paper that will make it so versatile to mix and match with the other designer papers we have this year. I've also used the 'Lots of Labels' Framelits for the sentiment and traced around it to hand cut a narrower mat in Rich Razzleberry. The large flourish that curves around the sentiment is from the 'Flourish' Thinlits dies. I've snipped a few pieces off to simplify it and make it fit.

Stampin' Up! Blooms & Bliss DSP & Flourish Thinlits for CASE-ing the Catty - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

The Flourish Thinlits cut beautifully with the updated Big Shot Platform and Precision Plate. This platform has a slightly raised section in the middle that compensates for the extra pressure at the sides caused by the gears mechanism. Basically, it ensures a more even pressure across the full width of the platform.  I strongly recommend the Die Brush and foam mat to make removing all the little pieces from the die an absolute snap. The die cuts are very detailed so you do need to be careful when handling them and don't forget you can add and remove pieces to make them suit your purpose as I have done here.

For the inside I have used a Mint Macaron mat and a small piece of the 'Blooms & Bliss' designer papers at the bottom. This is definitely one of my favourites at the moment. I've added a small flower from the 'Flourish' Thinlits in Sweet Sugarplum to finish it off.

CASE-ing the Catty - Birthdays

Hi there

Welcome to our Sunday evening CASE-ing the Catty inspirational blog hop with the brand new 2016-17 Annual Catalogue. Tonight we are looking at the Birthdays section.

You may have come from Rebecca's Blog, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

I don't have any new stamps from the birthday section to show you, but hey, that doesn't matter. CASE-ing is about taking inspiration from projects, stamps, layouts and colours and then using what you have to create your masterpiece. I was taken by the layout of this card on page 22 of the catalogue.

The angled look is pretty trendy at the moment, so I decided to recreate the card on the left using the new 'Affectionately Yours' designer series paper. I decided on the small floral design with the Crumb Cake background and paired it with Night of Navy and some of the beautiful Flirty Flamingo ruched ribbon. Love the width of this ribbon and it is much softer than you expect from the photo. I have added some punched out balloons using the Balloon Bouquet punch, to add some birthday festivity. I went with plain card stock in Flirty Flamingo, Night of Navy and Mint Macaron as the designer paper is very busy. Some sponging around the edges added depth and a white gel pen added the highlights. The greeting is one of my favourite's from the 'Birthday Blooms' stamp set and has been heat embossed in white. I attached the finished panel to a thick Whisper White card base.  This is the final result.

For the inside, I have a Flirty Flamingo mat and a strip of the navy floral washi from the coordinating 'Affectionately Yours'  set at the bottom of the writing panel. In the top corner I've stamped one of the greenery elements from the 'Love & Affection' stamp set in Cucumber Crush and fussy cut the flower to pop up over the top.

More Layering Love

Hi there

I hope you have had a few minutes to review the gorgeous new 2016-17 Annual Catalogue released last week.  I've placed my first proper order and I can't wait for it to arrive.  There is a fabulous bonus for the month of June as well. If you host a party (or place an order) with sales of $450 or more, you get an extra $50 of FREE products of your choice. That's in addition to the normal Stampin' Rewards you get.

I've got a clean and simple card for you today, that would look great in any bold bright colour. I've used a new stamp set 'Layering Love' that has 2 large, 1 medium and 1 smaller greeting.  The 2 large ones are perfect for the focal point of a card and are designed to coordinate with the new sets of layering framelit dies that have been released in the new catalogue.

I've gone with a no fail colour combo of red (Watermelon Wonder), Black and white. The 'live, laugh, love' sentiment has been heat embossed in white on black card stock and die cut with the new 'Sweet & Sassy' Framelits dies that provide 2 styles of heart shaped dies. There are 15 dies in the set and you can find them at the top of page 193 of the new Annual Catalogue. It is a little difficult to see on the photo, but the white mat has been dry embossed with the Large Polka Dot embossing folder and I've used the de-bossed side. I'm glad this made it into the new catalogue for another year.

It's Here! Welcome the 2016-17 Annual Catalogue

Hi there

It is the 1st June and the fabulous new products in the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue are now available for everyone to purchase. If you don't have a paper copy, you can click on the image in the left sidebar of my blog and look at the PDF version or you can download it to your computer or tablet and have it readily available to refer to for the next 12 months.

We have a new set of on-trend In Colours to love for the next 2 years. I'm sure you are going to find at least a couple of favourites among them. Here is my colour swatch and I have updated my chart with the RGB codes and what I think are the best available matching Copic markers. You can find it here.

2016-18 In Colour Swatches

I decided to get up close and personal with the new colours and used them in my class project on Sunday. I wanted to use each of the colours, so decided on a set of cards in a sweet little box.

Stampin' Up! Fabulous Flora & Sweet Sugarplum Note card Box - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

The box is made from thick Whisper White and measures 4 1/4" (10.8cm) square and contains 5 note cards and 5 envelopes. The note cards are 9.9cm square because you can get 3 from a sheet of A4 card stock and the box can be made from a single sheet of A4 card stock as well. This makes it very economical to make a few sets of these for gifts or markets.  I've used one of the new Hostess sets 'Fabulous Flora' for the images that are stamped over the sponged In Colour square. Being line images, I think they highlight the colours really well. I also used the silhouette tree from 'In the Meadow ' to provide the fifth image. This photo shows the pizza style box with the cards.

The top panel on each note card is thick Whisper White and the square has been sponged using a mask cut with the Squares Collection framelits. The images from 'Fabulous Flora' have been stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black along with the 'Just a Note' greeting that comes from the new 'Designer Tin of Cards' stamp set, which I won at OnStage. I added some splotches using a stamp from the 'Timeless Textures' set.  The white Baker's Twine was wrapped around and tied in a bow and the whole panel popped up on 1mm foam pads. Here is the full set of cards.

I hope you get to try the new In Colours soon. At this point my favourites are Sweet Sugarplum, Flirty Flamingo and Dapper Denim. I still have a bit of a nightmare after the 80's fling with peach/apricot. Are you old enough to remember, lol?

If you would like to make this project, you find a tutorial in my Tutorials Store.
