CASE-ing the Catty - Birthdays
June 05, 2016
Hi there
Welcome to our Sunday evening CASE-ing the Catty inspirational blog hop with the brand new 2016-17 Annual Catalogue. Tonight we are looking at the Birthdays section.
You may have come from Rebecca's Blog, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.
I don't have any new stamps from the birthday section to show you, but hey, that doesn't matter. CASE-ing is about taking inspiration from projects, stamps, layouts and colours and then using what you have to create your masterpiece. I was taken by the layout of this card on page 22 of the catalogue.
The angled look is pretty trendy at the moment, so I decided to recreate the card on the left using the new 'Affectionately Yours' designer series paper. I decided on the small floral design with the Crumb Cake background and paired it with Night of Navy and some of the beautiful Flirty Flamingo ruched ribbon. Love the width of this ribbon and it is much softer than you expect from the photo. I have added some punched out balloons using the Balloon Bouquet punch, to add some birthday festivity. I went with plain card stock in Flirty Flamingo, Night of Navy and Mint Macaron as the designer paper is very busy. Some sponging around the edges added depth and a white gel pen added the highlights. The greeting is one of my favourite's from the 'Birthday Blooms' stamp set and has been heat embossed in white. I attached the finished panel to a thick Whisper White card base. This is the final result.
For the inside, I have a Flirty Flamingo mat and a strip of the navy floral washi from the coordinating 'Affectionately Yours' set at the bottom of the writing panel. In the top corner I've stamped one of the greenery elements from the 'Love & Affection' stamp set in Cucumber Crush and fussy cut the flower to pop up over the top.
