CASE-ing the Catty - Occasions Favourite
January 10, 2016
Hi there
Welcome to the first CASE-ing the Catty blog hop for 2016. We are starting out the year with the fabulous new Occasions Catalogue, plus we will be looking at the Sale-a-bration catalogue as well.
You may have come from Emma's blog, but if you are visiting me, you can join the trail here by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.
This week we are selecting our favourite project from the Occasions catty (or one of them, at least!). When I was browsing through the catalogue for the first time, this card jumped out at me.
I think it was a combination of the beautiful floral image from the 'Birthday Blooms' stamp set and the colours used that attracted my eye. I love colouring and this stamp is perfect for colouring therapy. I have created a birthday card for a special friend using the same Blushing Bride colours and I have paired it with Pool Party for a soft feminine look. This is the front of the card when closed:
I have gold embossed the lovely birthday greeting at the top. Did you notice that the font in 'Birthday Blooms' is the same as that in the 'Cottage Greetings' stamp set, so you can mix and match the greetings. This is what you see when you open the card:
I have created the fancy fold 'lever' card (I used the tutorial by Kirsteen Gill), which is a great one for a special occasion. I have added a panel of the lovely 'Birthday Bouquet' designer paper which has the coordinating Blushing Bride and Pool Party colours. On the writing panel, I have stamped and coloured the smaller floral image from the 'Birthday Blooms' stamp set. The row of pearls and Blushing Bride cotton ribbon trim finish it off.
This is a close up of the main flower on the front of the card. I have stamped and coloured the largest flower a second time before fussy cutting and popping it up over the top of the main image. Because you need to cut right on the edge of the image, my tip is to use a coordinating colour marker and go around the edge to cover the white. It gives a seamless finish to your image. I have used my Copic markers this time, to colour the image.

Simply beautiful. I love your fancy fold card, the colours....just everything about it. The flower looks so beautiful popped up and I like the colouring around the edges which makes it appear more vibrant than having a white rim. Thanks so much for inspiring.

I love the soft pool party & pretty pinks of your card ,Judy. I bet your friend will treasure this. This image is perfect for a lever card & your added embelishments make this pretty special. I didn't realise the cottage garden font is the same so thanks for the tip!
