Art with Heart Blog Hop - Colour Challenge

I have to say that I found this set of colours more than a bit challenging. I nearly passed, but I pushed outside my comfort zone and managed to come up with a couple of cards.

For the first card, I used the Hostess set 'A Whole Lot of Lovely', stamping the cute little solid floral image all over to create a background panel. 

 

 I chose Watermelon Wonder for the base card and sentiment to bring it together. This is a very simple layout, but works well with the busy background.

For my second card, I have used the 'You've Got This' stamp set, water colouring the floral image in Watermelon Wonder and Mint Macaron and fussy cutting. I used a touch of Crumb Cake (as a neutral) in the centre of the flower as well.

  I think I prefer the second one, but I'm glad I gave it a go!

CASE-ing the Catty Blog Hop - Winter Wonderland

Well, another week has flown past and it is time for the CASE-ing the Catty Crew to give you some more great inspiration for your festive crafting. This week we are looking at the 'Winter Wonderland' section on pages 22-45 of the Holiday Catalogue.

I have chosen to use the 'Winter Wonderland' suite of products that are displayed on pages 22-24 for my card today.  I have taken my inspiration from this photo on page 24. 

I often find with specialty designer papers that I don't use as much as I should as I'm saving it for a special occasion (which often doesn't arrive, as I've moved on, lol). So, this is a great opportunity to cut into the very elegant 'Winter Wonderland' specialty paper. 

Instead of a treat bag, I have created a card, following the layout of the sample pretty closely. I have mixed up the centre panel a bit, as I wanted my greeting to stand out a little more. 'The perfect blend of simple elegance and a luxurious touch of gold' describes the Winter Wonderland suite and hopefully my card.

The gold foil makes a luxurious background and the Softly Falling embossing folder adds gorgeous texture.  I recommend that you go around the edges of the foil card with a gold marker if you have one. I use the retired gold Stampin' Dazzle marker to cover the white core and give a professional finish.

This photo shows the top part of the card close-up. I have used the gold striped washi to border the panel and the black crackle design in the centre. It makes a perfect background for the greeting, which has been gold embossed and die cut with the label from the Project Life framelits. I've added one of the wooden Snowflake Elements with a gold Cording Trim bow. Personally, I don't think rhinestones suit gold as well as they do silver.

 For the inside, I've finished it off with some of the gold striped washi and the lovely greeting from the 'Embellished Ornaments' stamp set, heat embossed in gold.

CASE-ing the Catty Blog Hop - Gift Tags

Welcome to our CASE-ing the Catty Blog Hop this week when we are taking inspiration from the Holiday Catalogue  for gift tags. I love making gift tags as gifts for friends and if you approach it as a production line, it doesn't have to take too long to produce a set of lovely tags.

The first set of tags I have made using the Delicate Ornaments framelits. You can see it used on Page 15 of the Holiday Catalogue. These are very quick to make for a set of elegant tags. I think the largest ornament is the perfect size for a tag and I have made these so that they open and you can put a message inside. 

This photo shows how they open and I have put a simple Christmas greeting inside. There is still plenty of room to write as well.

This is a closeup of one of the ornaments, showing the matching foil and glimmer paper. I have coloured the Iced Rhinestone with colour matched Copic markets for the gold and red tags.

The next set was inspired by the tags on the bottom of page 8 of the catalogue.  The images on the 'Home for Christmas' are crying out to be fussy cut! 

 

This time I have used the Circles Collection framelits, cutting a red and Very Vanilla in the larger size which are held together with the silver cord, to create an opening tag.  Of course, you can go with just the one layer as well.

To add some sparkle, I have used Iridescent Ice embossing powder on the Pool Party circle - this is a quick way to create sparkle on any colour cardstock. Just press your die cut into the Versamark ink pad, sprinkle on the embossing powder and heat set as normal. This closeup shows it more clearly.

You need to use strong adhesive or dimensionals to stick your images and greeting to the embossed circle.
