Getting Awesomely Artistic
June 30, 2015
Hi there
On the weekend I got the opportunity to have a play with the fabulous 'Awesomely Artistic' stamp set for the first time, which is a new one in the 2015-16 Annual Catalogue. I was inspired by this card from Michelle Zindorf who does the most amazing scenes with sponging, most of which I would not be game to attempt. However, this card is fairly simple and fun to make and quite flexible I think for use as a friendship, get well or 'just' because card.
I enjoyed using the new Brick Wall embossing folder for the first time to create the flower bed in the foreground. I added some Early Espresso ink to the 'mortar lines' on the embossing folder (the side with the Sizzix logo) to create a contrast to the Crumb Cake card stock. I also sponged some Crumb Cake ink over the vertical and horizontal mortar lines to add some shading to the bricks.
Sponge daubers were used on the centre panel which I masked off with strips cut from full adhesive sticky notes. You can also use the Stampin' Sponges, but I prefer sponge daubers as I think they give a softer end result to your colour blending.
For the inside I stamped part of the flower image in the top right hand corner and added a strip of Lost Lagoon Washi Tape from the the new In Colour washi tape set to continue the theme. The flowers on the front and inside were coloured with the Tangelo Twist Stampin' Write Marker.

Gorgeous card, Judy!!! So artistic! I have trouble with sponging sometimes. It turns out smudgy. But I want to try this with sponge daubers. Any other sponging suggestions for me?
Thanks, Cheryl
By the way, the inside of your cards are as lovely as the outside! What a nice surprise when you open the card!

Judy, I just love your card - so creative. I have a question for you, where can I find the In Colour Washi Tape that you used on your card. I thought that you had mentioned that it was a stamp, but then I see you have it listed under Accessories. Help!
Thank you for another great inspiration - I just love all of the technique and colors that you used. Again, Great!
Dottie :-)

Absolutely LOVE this card, Judy. The brickwork on the lower portion of the card is a nice touch as well!
