'Crazy About You' Boxed Card Set

Hi there

Today I'm sharing the project we made in class on Sunday. It is a box set of cards, using the wood mount stamp case for the box. This set makes a great gift for a friend, family, teacher, someone going traveling or just about anyone.

The outside of the box is embellished with a layer of card stock and DSP that goes under the plastic sleeve. We used the Gold Soiree DSP and matching card stock. You need to keep this layer as flat as possible, so that you don't don't get high spots that will wear.

In the class we made 6 cards in 3 designs with the 'Crazy About You' stamp set and the matching 'Hello You' Thinlits. We changed up the sentiments a little on each  card to provide more variety. You could fit 8 cards in the box with the embellishments we used and probably more if they were single layer cards.

This photo shows the inside of the box (back left), where a pocket has been created on the left hand side for the envelopes to sit, plus the three card designs. The layouts are quite simple, but still have lots of visual interest and dimension.

For the 'hello' card at the rear, we cut out the 'hello' from the Whisper White and then embedded a Crisp Cantaloupe 'hello' into the cut out once it was adhered to the base card. For a funky look, I left the Calypso Coral base to show through the 'loops', but you could add the white pieces back into the word for a totally white background. There are multiple ways to attach the 'Hello You' thinlits, but I don't think you can beat the Xyron Sticker Maker for being quick and easy and no mess.

This is the finished box and the set of 6 cards. The inside of the cards were finished off with a panel of Whisper White trimmed with a coordinating strip of washi tape for a simple but effective look.

Despite a bit of angst with the fussy cutting of the leaves, I think everyone was very happy with their completed project.

Thanks for the inspiration. I have recently started storing my stamps in clear plastic sleeves and as a result I have a lot of stamp boxes I need to repurpose. This is perfect. A wonderful set of cards.
