Lacy Butterflies

Hello

I'm really enjoying creating with more of the products from the new Occasions Catalogue. In particular, the 'Hello You' and 'Butterflies' thinlits. These 2 products together will enable you to make some simple and pretty cards.

I made a few of this next card to say hello to some customers. The second to largest butterfly was die cut from a piece of the lovely 'Something Borrowed' DSP and then layered on a Strawberry Slush card base.  A second butterfly was die cut from Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper and put into the space with a couple of glue dots. After die cutting the 'hello' greeting, I ran it through my Xyron and attached it to the card. Some bling to finish and that is it. You can't really see the sparkle of the butterfly in the photo, but it is lovely.

This close-up gives you a better look. It is pretty with the strawberry slush peaking through the wings.

This next card was a thank you for my lovely MIL who gave me money for Christmas to buy Stampin' Up! goodies. Gotta love that! She loves the teal colours, so I have used Bermuda Bay for the base card. For a tone on tone look I white embossed the 'Something Lacy' stamp onto Pool Party card stock.  Did you notice it is the same design as the 'Something Borrowed' DSP?  This time I finished it with one of the new 'Something Borrowed' embellishments, which matches the shape of the butterfly perfectly. This is such a gorgeous intricate butterfly die.

A New Year and New Toys!

Hello, hello

Happy New Year!  I hope you enjoyed the holiday season.  Summer holidays are in full swing here in Australia, so I hope you are getting some time to craft.

Yes, it has been way too long since my last post. December turned out to be a whirlwind; between preparing for my Christmas Craft market, followed by 10 days in Western Australia visiting family and friends, a few days home and then 2 weeks in New Zealand for Christmas and New Year. We had a fabulous time in Northland in the North Island of New Zealand. I can highly recommend it as a holiday destination. It is subtropical, so warm and the scenery is stunning.

I finally have a couple of cards to share using the new 'Butterfly Basics' stamp  set from the fabulous new Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalogue. This is definitely going to be one of my favourites and I'm sure it will be one of yours too if you like colouring. Both cards use the same layout with some of the fabulous 'Irresistibly Yours' DSP from the Saleabration Catalogue.  This is a set of white on white designs that allow you to create emboss resist backgrounds using your favourite method.  This time I have used a sponge and ink pad to colour the 2 panels, but you could also spritz or brayer them.  You can get this DSP FREE with an order of $90 (before postage) - you can click on the catalogue in the sidebar to see the other free products available during Saleabration.

The flower spray was coloured with Pink Pirouette Blendabilities (or 'Blendies' is less of a mouthful!) with a touch of Rich Razzleberry and Wild Wasabi for the foliage.  I love these lighter colours, both of which are new in the Occasions Catalogue. I sponged Sahara Sand ink on the left hand panel. This card is for a lady in my husband's Rotary Club.

The colour combo on this card gives it a more vibrant look. I have sponged So Saffron ink on the left panel and coloured the floral spray with the new Soft Sky and Wild Wasabi Blendies. I also used a touch of Night of Navy on the shading. The butterfly and greeting also come from the 'Butterfly Basics' stamp set. The touch of Sahara Sand lace is also new in the Occasions catty. This card is for a special friend having a milestone birthday.
