Seize the Birthday #6 Masculine

Hi there

I finally have a card to show you today using the Seize the Birthday #6 sketch for a masculine card.  I thought I would ink up the new 'By the Tide' stamp set for the first time.  Here is the sketch:

STB_6
I have created the sand and water background using various sponging options before stamping elements of the 'By the Tide' stamp set and finally white embossing the coral.  The centre circle is intended to magnify part of the scene (hopefully that is obvious).  This one got the nod from my husband who has snaffled it for a friend's birthday.

Merry Monday #49

Hi there

I have had a bit of a creative drought in the last couple of weeks.  However, I have totally re-organised my craft room and added more usable creating space with some new furniture, so that I can have all my commonly used tools close at hand.  I sorted through heaps of stuff and ruthlessly disposed of anything not adding value.  It is very cathartic and I'm pleased with the result, so hopefully it will lead to more output in coming weeks.

However, it is time for Merry Monday #49 and this week it is a sketch challenge. Lots of scope with this one, so please join us this week as I would love to see what you create.  Here is the sketch:

For my card, I have rotated the sketch 90o as it worked better with my image.  I really like this cute 'Marci' digi stamp as it typifies Christmas in Australia where sundresses and flip-flops are the order of the day.  It is nice for a change, to be able to use a 'summer Christmas' image and it is fun to colour as well.  The great thing about a digital stamp is that you can adjust the size of it before printing, which I have done here.

I have matted the coloured image on DSP from the Print Poetry Paper stack. To make it easier to work with I have used my glue stick to mount it on another oval cut from cardstock before popping up both layers.  The Ticket Duo Builder punch got its first use together with the new Occasions Paper Piercing Pack to create the sentiment ticket and I hand cut the mat.

For the inside, I have kept it really simple, using more DSP from the Print Poetry Paper stack with the tree from the 'Scentsational Season' stamp set, given by a lovely friend for my birthday last year.

Merry Monday #48

Hi there

It is time for another Merry Monday Challenge and I'm thrilled that Lesley has asked me to be the Featured Designer for February. This week is a colour challenge and it was a bit of an eeek! moment when I first saw the colours, but they are actually a fab combo.  Here they are:

MM_48

I have stamped this lovely olde world Santa image in Basic Gray and used the other two colours in a supporting role.  I couldn't find a sentiment that would fit nicely into the curved Bitty Banner framelit, so I made my own with MS Word using the WordArt option to curve the text in the right direction.  You can get the Stampin' Up! RGB colours from my Tips and Hints page so you can match the colours perfectly. The mat was hand cut using the outer edge of the framelit as a template.  A bit of Dazzling Diamonds sparkle on the brim of his hat and some bling finishes it off.

I have kept inside really clean and simple for this one.
