Happy 21st Joss

Hi there

At the moment I am in Western Australia visiting family and helping our Godson celebrate his 21st Birthday. The card I made for him was a CASE of this card from the lovely Nikki Spencer. 'Up, Up & Away' is a great stamp set for male birthdays and I'm glad that it made it into the new Annual Catalogue. I didn't make many changes to the design, as I think it is perfect for a 21st birthday.

I have kept the inside simple, given the front is quite busy.

More Sparkle

Hi there

I mentioned in this post that I was going to try some other colour options with the same design.  Making more than one card at a sitting helps to build your Christmas card stash faster. However, despite my best intentions I always end up making some variations along the way. I have two of these to show you today.

The thing I haven't changed is the lovely silver Glimmer card that adds gorgeous sparkle to these cards. It is so easy to punch and the glitter stays put. The first card uses Elegant Eggplant as the background to the silver embossed tree from the  'Snow Swirled' stamp set. Despite the detail in this stamp, it embosses beautifully.

The second card is the same design, with the tree from the 'Lovely as a Tree' stamp set. I used markers direct to the rubber, trying out the new In Colour 'Gumball Green'. Despite the offputting name, it coordinates really well with Cherry Cobbler for a more traditional and rich colour combo. It is a little difficult to see, but I used a fine glue pen on the branches to add some Dazzling Diamonds glitter for coordinating sparkle.

Freshly Made #48

Hi there

It has been another busy weekend as we were host-sitting Lars, our Rotary Exchange student while his host family went interstate.  He went to his first AFL football game at the MCG and chose a team to support by listening to all the team songs at the National Sports Museum beforehand.   The cafeteria ran out of pies (can you believe that!), so he will have to wait a bit longer to try his first Aussie meat pie.  A bunch of other activities to fill the weekend and we are exhausted, but I think he had good time!

This afternoon, I managed to get some time to make a card with this great  Freshly Made #48 sketch.

FMS_48

I have flipped the sketch and used the new 'Floral District' designer paper that will be available in the Annual Catalogue from 1 September to create a playful and bright card. I added a bit of bling to the bird cages and flags to finish it off.

Merry Monday #27

Hi there

Now we are into August, building my stash of Christmas cards is definitely on the agenda.  I have used an old favourite in the 'Snow Swirled' stamp set on this card.

This week's Merry Monday #27 sketch is the basis for the card and it incorporates a few more sneak peeks of products that will be available in the new 2012-13 Annual Catalogue. I love the new 'Apothecary Accents' framelits set and in particular the die that provides the focus for this card.  The shape is a bit different and adds a twist to the standard oval. Here is the sketch.

I have gone for a monochromatic look with the lovely Island Indigo, white and silver.  I like the slightly contemporary look this gives and I intend to make a few more cards of this design in other colours such as Elegant Eggplant. Doesn't the sweet new 'Finishing Touches' edgelit die make a great finishing touch!

Freshly Made #46

Hi there

Wow, another month has come and gone.  It seems like yesterday we were at Convention and now we are on the cusp of the new 2012-13 Catalogue.  The card I have for you today has a few sneak peeks of some new goodies that will be coming soon.

I have used this week's Freshly Made #46 sketch for a birthday card for a special friend. Here is the sketch:  FMS_46For the main panel, I've used the 'Pleasant Poppies' stamp set that is new for the 2012-13 Catalogue.  This is a single large stamp, but I have chosen to stamp one section of the stamp twice, masking a flower and bud to give a more realistic grouping.   The Crumb Cake background has also been stamped with the image in Crumb Cake ink to mirror the main panel.  Other new items are the lovely 'Fancy Fan' embossing folder that produces a beautiful crisp result on card stock and the large scallop Edgelit.

Freshly_Made_46_A

'Poppy Parade' and black produces a really vibrant colour combo, so I have toned it down with the Crumb Cake background and some 'bling' finishes it off.
