Nautical Birthday
November 19, 2011
Hi there
It is a wet and muggy day here in Melbourne after the heat of yesterday. It will be a good afternoon to be in my craft room as it too wet for the usual Saturday chores (woohoo!). It is wonderful to be getting regular rain for the garden, though. It is all so lush and green at the moment, but it won't be so good for my new roses that are already weighed down with flowers. I have taken a few photos which I will share with you later.
A real change of pace now after the candy colours of my previous card. I was chuffed to win the JAI challenge this week and thank you to everyone who left a lovely comment. It is very uplifting! Today I have a very textured and dimensional masculine card using the lovely 'Sail Away' a la carte stamp that is now retired, unfortunately. Red and blue are my automatic 'go to' colours for nautical projects, which I have teamed with Vanilla Vanilla and Sahara Sand. I've made the sails 3-D and sponged on some Sahara Sand for depth, distressed the edges and popped up both layers. The striped Bakers Twine lifts the large panel of 'Night of Navy'.
Project Details | |
Stamps | Sail Away, Party This Way |
Card stock & Papers | Night of Navy, Sahara Sand, Real Red, Very Vanilla |

I will be back with some more Christmas inspiration soon.
Judy, just love your design. I would love to borrow your idea to make some cards to share with a few special veterans for an upcoming event. Hope you enjoy a wonderful fourth.

You, my friend, despite your protestations, have a real knack for male cards! I just love the way you've knotted the twine; the perfect finishing touch to a great card.

What a perfect 'boy' card, Judy...I agree...the colours are just right ...and the twine is the perfect finishing touch. Love it!
