Artistic Etchings and CAS 128

Hello

Last week's sketch from Clean & Simple Stamping seemed perfect for my recently acquired 'Artistic Etchings' stamp set.  I think I would class my card as a fail in terms of clean and simple, but I had fun putting it together nonetheless. Firstly, here is the sketch:

CAS128

Here is my card. I have used the 'Love Letter' DSP for the first time that was kindly given to me by 'Kris Kringle' last year. I think it goes really well with this stamp set. I stamped the Eiffel Tower onto the Nestie Label, which has been stamped with En Francais background. A second tower was cut out and popped up on top.

Sale-a-bration Blog Hop

Hi there

Well, it is the 4th Saturday of the month already and time for our casual monthly Blog Hop. This month we are sharing some inspiration using the fabulous Stampin' Up! Sale-a-bration stamps sets that are FREE until 31 March 2010 with complying orders of Stampin' Up! products. Contact me if you would like to place an order.

You may have come from the blog of the talented Kathryn Mangelsdorf, but if not, you can start the Blog Hop from here by clicking on the link at the end of the post.

The first couple of cards I have for you use the 'Punch Bunch' stamp set, which gives you a range of stamps that match some of the great Stampin' Up! punches.  I've taken the opportunity to create a couple of cards that could be suitable for the boys/men in our lives.  On this card I've used the cute Owl stamp. I stamped and punched him out and then paper pieced his chest and added some extra dimension for his eyes.  Not quite sure what the expression is, maybe bewilderment? This is a really quick way to use the Owl punch if you haven't got time to put together the pieces. The tree was created by stamping the Woodgrain background in Versamark onto White Gloss cardstock and embossing it with some brown embossing powder I've had forever.  I then used a baby wipe and chocolate chip reinker to wipe over the top. I'm really pleased with the effect.

The second card uses the Happy Birthday stamp, also from the 'Punch Bunch' stamp set.  This is a great stamp for birthdays for any gender, but I wanted this one to be suitable for a male. I've gone with bright colours again, with Pacific Point and Real Red and the Brushed Silver 'Diamond Plate' embossing for the background. There is lots of texture on this card with the stars being being embossed with the Square Lattice embossing folder, the centre panel popped up and the chunky silver brads look like snaps. I also popped up the 'HB' by first stamping with Versamark onto Pacific Point cardstock and then cutting out the letters.

I couldn't finish without something more feminine, so I used the lovely 'Sweet Summer' stamp set to create this card. This is really a cute stamp set, that lets you mix and match the flowers and stems and garden critters. I've stamped the leaf scrolls and then coloured them with Stampin' Write markers. The flower head was cut out and popped up.  I've layered this onto a square cut with the Scallop Trim border and corner punches.   The sentiment and the butterfly are from the lovely 'So Happy for You' Sale-a-bration set.

Finally, is the lovely set 'Bliss', that I've used on this easel card. The focus colours are Early Espresso and Marina Mist with Very Vanilla.  These are very easy to make and turn a card into a gift. This set really lends itself to the vintage look.

Cupcakes for JAI 56 - Sketch Challenge

Hi there

I hope your weekend is going well.  I love the sketch at Just Add Ink this week, so I decided to get this one done early before I was sidetracked with other chores. First off, here is the sketch, in case you haven't seen it:

JAI56-Sketch
I wanted to try and keep my card as clean and simple as the sketch, although this doesn't necessarily mean quick, unfortunately.  I've gone with a funky colour combo (reminds me a bit of bubblegum icecream) that I haven't used before - Tempting Turquoise, Sahara Sand and Regal Rose. The focus stamp is the cupcake stand from the 'Crazy for Cupakes' stamp set, which I've coloured with my Watercolour Crayons. The icing was created using Frost White Shimmer paint mixed with a few drops Pink Pirouette reinker and applied with a small paint brush, although the shimmer isn't apparent in the photo.

Welcome Baby

Hello

I hope you're having a good week. Just popping in with a card I made for a lovely Demo who recently had a baby girl.  What a great excuse (as if I needed one Smiley) to go all pink and girly. I've used markers to colour the Welcome Baby stamp from the lovely Sale-a-bration stamp set 'Punch Bunch' and punched it and the mat out with the tag punches.  For some added interest, I've paper pieced and popped up the canopy of the mobile and added a little pink pearl. The rest is pretty much as you see it.  I hope she likes it.

Maidenhair & Gardenias

Hi there

Well, I've finally found a few minutes to myself to share this card with you.  It was one of those weeks when my agenda was buried underneath the work, home and husband agendas! I started this card last Sunday and despite my best efforts it has taken until now to get it finished, photographed and posted.

Anyway, onto the important business. I've used the lovely 'Growing Green' stamp set for the first time, and the outline images lend themselves to some type of colouring.  I've decided to go with my Watercolour crayons, which I haven't used for ages, but now I have my new colour update kit in place I'm set to go.  I'm not sure what the flower images are intended to be, but they say 'Gardenia' to me. I have a large Gardenia bush underneath a window near the back door and it has flowered profusely the whole summer this year and the perfume has been amazing. I've used Very Vanilla and River Rock for a (hopefully) creamy offwhite look to the flowers, which are positioned mostly on the Rose Red panel for contrast.  The fern image is coloured with Wild Wasabi and a touch of Garden Green.
