Holiday Hoopla
October 25, 2010
Hello
It has been a lovely few days of weather here in Melbourne, so welcome after lots of rain and storms. I've been planting roses and pots of impatiens and fertilising and mulching the front garden. My knees and back are now protesting madly, but I'm pleased with the results.
I'm sure you've seen the Christmas decorations now populating shops, so there is no doubt that it is time to ramp up the Christmas card production. That is, unless you are one of the super organised and have them all done already (I'm definitely not one of those people!). So today I have some more Christmas inspiration for you with a clean and simple card using the 'Holiday Hoopla' stamp set and some striped trim from the 'Celebrations' DSP.
I created the Santa image on Whisper White with a red glittered hat (use Jac paper) and paper pieced beard that has been embossed with circles for added interest. I've coloured his face with Stampin' Write markers, cut him out and popped him up in the middle of a row of curly Christmas trees. The lovely sentiment is from the 'Four the Holidays' stamp set that has been stamped on Whisper White and then cut out and popped up. A little bit fiddly, but I like the effect. This is an idea I took from Page 27 of the 2010-11 Idea Book and Catalogue. I love the touch of blue in the trim as it adds a contemporary look to the traditional red, white and green colours. Here it is, I hope you like it.
