Get Well Challenge
July 13, 2010
Hi there
While I have a bit more time I thought I would take the opportunity to do a challenge or two. This one is a colour challenge from Just Add Ink #25 that I have combined with a get well card for my Mum. She has had a tough time during the past 18 months fighting a hospital acquired Staph infection after knee replacement surgery. She seemed to be just about at the end of that campaign and ready for the knee replacement to be done again when she 'acquired' a perforated bowel during a colonoscopy procedure. It will take about 3 months for this heal and in the meantime has to deal with the after affects of this problem (I'll spare you the gory details). I'm looking forward to the time when I can send her a 'because you are well' card.
These are the colours in the challenge:
I have used the Sizzix scallop circle die cut on a piece of folded Rose Red card stock to create the base card. The Soft Suede and Very Vanilla circles were cut with the Circle Scissor Plus which is a great tool for cutting circles to custom sizes. The scallop card still fits into a standard envelope, although I wouldn't do that with the raised elements I have used.
I have stamped off the Rose Red and Elegant Eggplant to get the lighter colours for the small flowers. This is a great option when you want to limit the number of colours you use. I was undecided about sponging the edges of the vanilla circle, but decided I liked the clean look - what do you think? The rest of the details are below.

I'm looking forward to spending Wednesday stamping with some of the girls from the Art with Heart team. What a treat! I have been doing chores, sweeping leaves and pruning roses today, so I think I deserve it. I look forward to showing you what I come up with.
Goodness me Judy, your Mum has not had a good run with the medical system has she?? It's so unfair. Lets hope she bounces back again from this last one and is well soon. Please send her big hugs from me too.

An absolutely beautiful card. Best wishes for your mum - it sounds like she's had a terrible time with it all.

Beautiful, Judy. The little butterfly is the perfect touch (so cute!). I like how you've stamped off the Rose Red and Elegant Eggplant. I think the "un-sponged" edge is perfect on the Very Vanilla circle, because your stamping style is so clean and elegant. This is a really lovely card for your Mum, and I am sure it will brighten her day.

I have just read the whole post, sorry to hear about your poor Mum, she really has been through the wringer hasn't she? Can't believe she has yet another "acquired" problem. Wish her well from me.
