Valentine's Day Inspiration - Blog Hop

Hi there

It is only 2 weeks until Valentine’s Day, so the ‘Art with Heart’ team are giving you a load of Valentine inspiration with the first of what will be a monthly Blog Hop on the last day of the month. The Art with Heart team lead by Claire Daly, is a group of more than 80 Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from across Australia. If you would like to be part of this supportive group of talented paper crafters email me for more details.

You may have come from  Di Dunk’s blog, but if not, you can join the Blog Hop from here by clicking on the link to the next blog at the bottom of this post.  We hope you will visit each of the 12 blogs to see the wonderful creations we have to show you! If you leave a comment on every blog and then email Nikki at [email protected], your name will be put into the hat to win some beautiful Blog Candy. You have until 6am ESST on 3 February 2010 to leave your comments and only those who are not Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators are eligible to win the Blog Candy. Now settle in for the ride and be inspired to make something special for your Valentine this year.

The card I have for you is simple but vibrant using black, white and red card stock with the heart image from the Always stamp set. The heart has been embossed white on Basic Black card stock and then embossed black on Whisper White card stock and cut out. The white heart has been popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals. The jumbo pewter eyelets were set with the fabulous Cropadile. The sentiments are from the Chit Chat Rub-ons currently in the Summer Mini catalogue. If you would like to order any Stampin’ Up! products to create this project, please contact me. Here it is with the full details below.

Ready, Set, Sale-a-bration!

Hi there

Sale-a-bration is the once a year event when Stampin' Up! gives you the opportunity to choose FREE stamp sets. It starts TODAY, Monday 25 January and continues until 31 March 2010.  For every $100 you spend (excluding postage) on Stampin' Up! products, you can choose one of 4 free stamp sets.  There is no limit to how many stamp sets you can earn. You can click on this link to check out the stamps sets.

The card I have for you today uses an image from the 'Happy Moments' Sale-a-bration stamp set.  This set has 4 images and 3 sentiments that cover a lot of life's happy moments.  Three of the images lend themselves to colouring with Stampin' Write markers or Watercolour Wonder Crayons, which I have used. The sentiment is from the 'Vintage Labels' Sale-a-bration which is also a really flexible set. I have used the Mojo Monday sketch from Week #122 and turned it on its side. Here it is.

A Helping Hand for Haiti

You can help raise funds for the people of Haiti while enjoying your hobby.  In the past, when terrorists attacked the Twin Towers, when a tsunami struck Indonesia, when a hurricane destroyed New Orleans, and when wildfires ravaged Australia, Stampin' Up! demonstrators stepped forward and showed their commitment to making a difference in the lives of others. This time is no different.

From now until 28 February, 2010, you can partner with Stampin' Up! to make a difference in the lives of those who continue to suffer from the effects of this devastating earthquake.

Stampin' Up! will set aside $2 from the sale of every I {Heart} Hearts stamp set and donate that money to the American Red Cross' Haiti Relief and Development Fund. The Red Cross is already well-established in Haiti, and this money will be used to provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance and other support to help those in need.

This is a stamp set with wide application for cardmaking and scrapbooking. Here is a reminder of what it looks like:

A Bit of Razzle Dazzle

Hello

This time last week in Melbourne we were sweltering in 40+ temperatures and today it is raining and I have my polar fleece jacket on! Talk about contrasts, but the rain is most welcome for the garden and topping up the water tanks.

Today I have a card for you using the Razzle Dazzle stamp set from the Summer Mini Catalogue, which I have combined with the Mojo Monday sketch from Week 119. I had the chance to have a play with this set at the first of our monthly stamping nights for the year. I have used Stampin' Write markers direct to the rubber for both images. I think I might succumb to this stamp set after all.  Here it is and the details are below.

I don't often get to make baby cards nowadays, so I went a bit 'dottie' with this one! I have used the baby stamp from the Level 1 Hostess Set Punches Three as the main focus. I like the simplicity of it.

For a Special Friend

Hi there

It is another hot summer's day here in Melbourne and I'm looking forward to spending time today in my newly cooled craft room (courtesy of my DH for Christmas!). I'm still in the process of dusting, re-arranging and rationalising the room as a result of the air conditioning installation. It is amazing how much 'stuff' fits into a 7' bookcase and it takes a lot less time to take everything out, than to put it back (one of life's mysteries!).

The card I want to share with you today is one I made last week for my special friend Karen in Perth, but wanted to make sure she had received it before sharing it with you. The style is a 'Shutter Card' and I used a tutorial from the talented Jenny Moors. There are many tutorials available, including this one on the SplitCoastStampers website. This is a really fun card to make and decorate, has a real 'wow' effect and is much easier than it looks. I also made the box for it from Jenny's tutorial, which is a great finishing touch.  Here is the card and then I will give you more details:

Firends_Shutter_Card_2

I have used the 'Friends' 24-7 stamp set, which is one of my favourites and the matching 'Friendly Words' jumbo roller. The base card is Not Quite Navy with the Baja Breeze Designer Series paper with Kiwi Kiss and the Urban Garden Designer Series paper for contrast. The flower stem was coloured with a blender pen and Baja Breeze and Kiwi Kiss ink pads, cut out and then popped up.

This is the matching box:

Friends_Shutter_Box

I have used Baja Breeze for the box with Baja Breeze DSP on the bottom half. The flap has been decorated with Not Quite Navy embossed with the 'Victoria' embossing folder, which is one of my all time favourites. The flap is kept in place by the scallop circle, which was stamped with one of the labels from the coming Sale-a-bration stamp set 'Vintage labels' before being punched out. The sentiment fits within the label, but I have stamped it and then punched it out with a 7/8" circle punch and popped it up on top. A bit of paper piercing on the scallop edge finishes it off.

Here are the full details.
