Urban Garden & Friends

Hello

It is another chilly day in Melbourne, but with some sunshine which is nice. I have been browsing some sketch blogs and found Amy Rsavy's site Prairie Paper & Ink. She has a card sketch every Friday, so I decided to give it a go. The card I have to share with you is based on the sketch for Friday 17 July.

I have used the Urban Garden Designer Series Paper and the matching cardstock colours with the Friends 24-7 stamp set (one of my favourites) and the matching Friendly Words jumbo wheel. I love how easy Stampin' Up! make the co-ordination of the cardstock and designer papers. The card fold is at the top for a change - a style I think that adds interest to the card. The details are pretty evident from the card. I have added Baja Breeze to the bird's tummy using a blender pen and ink pad and sponging to the edges to soften the white. The scallop circle is popped up on some dimensionals. I hope you like it.

Blue Brocade

Hi there

Isn't it great that it's Friday again and it looks like it is going to be a sunny winters day in Melbourne.

The card I have for you today morphed into something different from I what I had in mind, but sometimes you just have to go with the flow.  The layout is a variation of the Mojo Monday #94 Sketch. I started with the brocade motif from the Friends 24-7 stamp set which I embossed in white onto gloss card and then used the brayer to put the chocolate chip ink over the top. It turns out that my brayer isn't actually a brayer, but a rubber roller, but the outcome wasn't too bad. I have used the Bella Bleu DSP on the Chocolate Chip cardstock with a small piece of the lovely new Parisian Breeze DSP from the Spring Mini matted on Close to Cocoa. The sentiment is from the new Oval All stamp set also from the Spring Mini that commences on 1 August.  This is going to become a firm favourite as will the new scallop oval punch. Here it is and the details are below.

Soft Summer Plum

Hi Everyone

The card I have for you today uses the lovely floral stamp set Soft Summer from the NEW Spring Mini Catalogue released on 1 August.  This is a Two Step Stampin' set with the outline and the centre of the image as two stamps.  This gives you lots of options to use each stamp separately or together. I will show you some of the other options in the future.

I have stamped the outline in Stazon Timber Brown on watercolour paper. I have used Stampin' Write markers on the centre image in Pale Plum, Creamy Caramel and Sage Shadow, leaving the centre of the flowers un-inked and adding Perfect Plum to the edges of the flowers with a sponge dauber. I spritzed the stamp lightly with water and using the Stamp-a-ma-jig for alignment, stamped over the top of the outline.  This gives a lovely soft watercolour effect with the ink going slightly outside the outline in some areas. To finish, I used the So Saffron marker to colour the centre of the flower. I did this to prevent the colours on the flowers bleeding into the centre and muddying the colour.

The sentiment is also from the same set, punched out with the large oval punch and then matted with the NEW scallop oval punch. The background is the retired (unfortunately) Paisley stamp, which I still love. I hope you like it.

Sweet Cupcake

Hi there

Well, I have had a fun weekend away with friends creating, stamping and even putting a toe into the scrapbooking water (pretty scary when surrounded by fabulous scrapbookers). Well, everyone has to start somewhere don't they. I still have to finish the page, but might share that with you in the future.

Today the card I have for you is based on this week's Mojo Monday Sketch #95 (I finally get to link one on time). This is the first time I have used the Sweet Always Designer Series Paper which really lends itself to the sweet girly look. The card will be for my neice Amelia, who will be having her 3rd birthday soon. I have used the Party Hearty stamp set for the first time as well and know that it will become a favourite. The main image was stamped with Versamark and then white embossed. I have done the same for the centre flower in Close to Cocoa, punched it out and popped it up on a dimensional. The cupcake was coloured with Stampin' Write markers, cut out and Crystal Effects added for a raised shiny topping. I have popped up the top of the cake as well and put some Dazzling Diamonds glitter on the flame. I used my crimper for the first time and really love the soft corrugated effect that mirrors the base of real cupcakes. Keeping the cardstock straight while crimping is a bit of a challenge which Leanne can attest to! Here it is and the details are below.

Urban Mojo

Hi Everyone

I sure am enjoying these few days off. Not having to get out of bed at 6.30am is absolute bliss as well as the freedom to do whatever I feel like - pottering in my craft room mainly! My husband keeps asking why I don't get bored with papercraft!!

The card I want to share with you today is based on last week's Mojo Monday #94 Sketch. I have used the lovely Urban Garden Designer Series paper which goes so well with Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss and Basic Gray.  I have been wanting to use this bird from the Always stamp set on a card. It reminds me of black birds which I always thought were quite cute when I saw them on those British TV shows like Midsomer Murder. However, when I moved to Adelaide I got a shock when I saw what havoc they create in your garden beds madly flinging mulch everywhere. Moving to Melbourne didn't help and many techniques have been tried to keep the mulch in place, but I think the most successful will be our new cat Artie! Enough rambling, here is the card and the details are below.
