Raspberry Delights

Hi Everyone

I hope you have had an enjoyable weekend. It was very chilly here in Melbourne and no rain, unfortunately. On the Mojo Monday website this week I found a link to the Verve monthly challenge for June, comprising 5 card sketches. After looking at these I decided to set myself a challenge to make all 5 using the yummy Raspberry Tart Designer Series Paper and the matching cardstock. So in between the chores, I found time to make the first two cards.

The first is a square card which is one of my favourite shapes and gives plenty of real estate to work with. I have used the Embrace Life and Eastern Blooms stamp sets to make the centre panel. The flowers were stamped and cut out and then raised on dimensionals for depth. The sentiment is from the Level 1 Hostess set Best Yet. I have used this set a lot because it works so well with the Stampin' Up! punches. The rest is pretty straightforward and the details are below.

Stamps

Embrace Life, Eastern Blooms, Best Yet (Level 1 Hostess)

Cardstock & Papers

Bazzill White, Kiwi Kiss, Rose Red, Cameo Coral, Whisper White, Raspberry Tart DSP

Ink

Kiwi Kiss, Rose Red, Cameo Coral

Accessories

Kaiser flat back pearls (two sizes)

Tools

Ticket Punch (not available here), Circle punches, Dimensionals, Mat Pack & paper piercer

The second card is very girly, but I love the combination of Pretty in Pink, Rose Red and Kiwi Kiss with the Raspberry Tart DSP.  I have used the lovely brocade diamond from the Friends 24-7 stamp set, stamped off first, in the centre of the oval and then stamped the sentiment from Best Yet over the top in Rose Red . I have added a Kiwi Kiss button from Button Bouquet which I tied with some matching stranded cotton from my extensive collection from my cross stitching days. Here it is, I hope you like it.

Monday is normally my day off, but I am working so that I can have Friday off instead. Thursday night is my favourite night of the month - Stamp Club when us girls get together and chat, nibble, laugh and off course stamp! It is generally a late night so being able to sleep in on Friday is sooooo good.

I hope to be back later in the week with more Raspberry Delights.

Judy.

Vanilla & Roses

Hi again

I have a quick and simple card to show you today using one of my favourite stamp sets - A Rose Is a Rose.  A card from the Stampin' Up! Idea Book and Catalogue was the initial inspiration and particularly the Bella's Border design which is classic and elegant. I stamped the rose bud directly onto the base card while the main flower (mounted on dimensionals) and leaves were stamped separately and cut out. The Bella's Border was stamped in Versamark, which works really well on dark coloured cardstock for a tone-on-tone effect. The rest is pretty self evident and the specific details are below.

Stamps

A Rose Is a Rose, All Year Cheer I (Retired), Bella’s Border wheel

Elegant Sweet Pea

Hi Everyone

I hope you had a nice weekend.  It always goes so quickly and I never seem to get everything I want done.  Today I want to share with you the card that I made for last week's Mojo Monday Sketch #91. I didn't make it in time to link, but never mind.  This was an interesting one, with the shape of the card being tall and narrow. I made my base from Kraft (the first time I have used it - I hear Christine gasping in shock and horror!!) 21cm square, giving a 10.5 cm x 21cm card that fits into a standard DL sized envelope.  I got the colour combo from the 09-10 Stampin' Up! Colour combos they put together for the In Colors (so hate leaving out the 'u'). You can download it from my Tips & Hints page. If you are in need of some colour inspiration, it is a great place to start.

The main colours are Pale Plum, Perfect Plum, Pink Pirouette and I have added in the Elegant Eggplant and Sage Shadow for some contrast.  The result is soft and muted, but elegant I think. The Sweet Pea image comes from the Echoes of Kindness Level 2 Hostess stamp set. The Perfect Plum layer has been stamped with French Script (now retired and replaced by En Francais) in Versamark. I have used two Cuttlebug A2 embossing folders - Swiss Dots and Bird Call. The sentiment is from the really versatile Short & Sweet stamp set which is great value at $29.95 for 6 sentiments and 6 matching icons. Here it is and the details are below.

Bright Blooms

Hi Everyone

Well, I did ask you to have your sunnies ready for this one as it is pretty bright.  I have used the pot of flowers from the Bloomin' with Beauty stamp set. This is one of my favourites for water colouring with the Stampin' Up! Watercolour crayons and the Aqua Painter. These are fabulous because every colour from the four primary Stampin' Up! colour ranges is represented. It is hard to see from the photo, but I have used the (unfortunately) retired Linen background and sponged the edges with Pretty in Pink. The watercoloured flowers and the mount were cut out with the Nestabilities circle and scallop circle dies. The centre panel has been embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder and mounted on Kiwi Kiss with the Kiwi Kiss grosgrain tied around it. The scalloped circle has been mounted on Dimensionals for depth as has the sentiment.  I hope you like it.

Flower Fusion for Mojo Monday

Hi Everyone

I'm pleased to say that I managed a few hours of stamping on my day off today. Last week's Mojo Monday sketch #90 put me outside my comfort zone well and truly. I missed the cut off time, but decided to push on and try and produce something with it.  I have used the verse from the Echoes of Kindness Level 2 Hostess Set for the centre panel, but the Flower Fusion felt flowers really provide the main focus. They are really lovely intense colours.

Floral Sympathy

Hi there,

I can't believe how quickly the weekend has gone. What with the usual chores, raking up leaves etc etc the time has just disappeared. Unfortunately Peter had need for a Sympathy card - not something I keep in my card stash so I had to come up with something quickly so he could get it in the mail before attending the funeral on Wednesday. I have kept it really simple, using the Lily image from the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set. The base card is very vanilla (although it looks white in the photo) with the next layer being the So Saffron DSP trimmed with More Mustard and the Martha Stewart decorative punch. The flowers have been stamped in Not Quite Navy on to Very Vanilla cardstock and cut out. The stamens were coloured with Stampin' Write markers in So Saffron and More Mustard. I have left one flower flat and the other raised on dimensionals on the Bella Bleu DSP, matted in Not Quite Navy.  The small flat back pearls in the corners help to finish it off.

Some of old Mojo...

Hi again,

It is freezing cold and pouring down with rain here in Melbourne on a wintery holiday Monday afternoon. So glad that I won't be fighting my way home from work in it - that will be for tomorrow instead!  We really need the rain desperately to fill the water storages, so I'm not begrudging it.

After spending the morning doing chores, I have put together this card based on an old Mojo Monday Week #73 sketch from back in February. I am having a bit of a fling with Basic Gray at the moment, but it just goes so well with all of the current In Colors.  I have used the bird from Friends 24-7 stamp set again as it is such a classic image. The rest is pretty self evident.  It think this is a gender neutral card that is handy to have in your card stash.

Edited to add:

I had some of the pink brocade background left from a previous card, so I decided to create the same design in pink. This time I kept the main elements flat and then stamped and cut out the bird and raised it on foam tape to give it a 3-D effect.

Girly Butterfly

Hi Everyone

It is a wet and chilly Sunday in Melbourne - a good day to spend indoors stamping! On Thursday night at Stamp Club I had a quick play with Christine's Flight of the Butterfly stamp set. I stamped the butterfly and the tail and today I have put the rest together. The result is a very pink, girly card. The base card is Basic Gray with Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink and Pink Pirouette. The other images are from the Always stamp set. You can't tell from the photo but I have added a dot from the glue pen to the flowers on the butterfly and sprinkled some dazzling diamonds glitter for sparkle.

Rustic Roosters

Hello again

Last night was Stamp Club night, my favourite night of the month!  There was lots of laughter, cheeky banter, chocolate and of course some stamping.  My goal for the evening was to try out this Level 2 Hostess stamp set -  Rustic Rooster.  This is one of the free stamp sets you can choose when when you host a workshop with orders of $600 or more.

I have used the Mojo Monday Week #89 sketch for the design.  The base card is 14.5 cm x 14.5 cm in So Saffron. The top portion is Riding Hood Red cardstock that I have randomly stamped with the feather and postmark stamps in Versamark ink.  Versamark produces a great background on darker coloured cardstock. The bottom portion is one of the designs from the Riding Hood Red Designer Series Paper. Across the join is some twill tape with a jumbo brass eyelet inserted with a Crop-a-dile.

I have inked the rooster with Cholocate Chip ink and then wiped off with a cotton bud the sections that I wanted to colour with the Stampin' Write markers and stamped it on Very Vanilla cardstock. The edges have been sponged with Chocolate Chip ink and then the corners paper pierced. I have matted the rooster on Riding Hood Red and Chocolate Chip. The Very Vanilla circle has been stamped with the script in Chocolate Chip and matted on a scallop circle, both cut with Nestabilities. Finally, the postmark has been stamped and punched out and popped up on a Riding Hood Red circle.

For the second card, I wanted to use up the remaining Riding Hood Red background and create a card that was more masculine. This time I have used Basic Gray for the base card with the same Riding Hood Red colours for the next layer.  The rooster has been stamped with Basic Gray on Whisper White and then matted onto More Mustard and then Basic Gray.  I have punched the edge with the spiral punch for interest.  The sentiment is from the Basic Phrases stamp set stamped in Basic Gray with the corners rounded and edged with Basic Gray.  Finally, I have added 2 silver brads that resemble Philips head screws. My husband was not convinced that it would be suitable for a male, but I guess it is all in the eye of the beholder!  Here it is anyway.

Friends 24-7

Well, it wasn't as creatively productive a weekend as I was hoping, but sometimes it is just like that!  The card that I want to share with you today is very pink even for a self-confessed pink loving person. The design for this card is based on the Mojo Monday Week # 88 sketch with the stamp set Friends 24-7. The base card is 15 cm x 15 cm in Basic Grey to give myself a bit more ‘real estate’ to work with.  I really love square cards, even though they cost a bit more to post.

I have stamped the top portion with the brocade diamond in Pretty in Pink onto Pink Pirouette cardstock. The Stamp-a-ma-jig is fantastic for getting the positioning spot-on. The bottom portion is the Polka Dot background stamped in Pretty in Pink with the grey taffeta ribbon across the centre. I have stamped the bird in Basic Grey on to Whisper White and then cut it out with the circle Nestabilities. I stamped a second bird image and cut out the body and mounted it with foam tape for a paper tole effect. This has been mounted on the pink scallop circle which has been popped up with Dimensionals onto the grey scallop circle, both cut with Nestabilities. The sentiment has been stamped with Basic Grey and then punched out with the Stampin’ Up! Circle punch and popped up on a Basic Grey mat. This is a very 3-D card!  Here are the full details.
