Dazzling Urban Daisy

Hello again,

I want to share a card with you that I made on my day off on Monday (in between the chores and unpacking my lastest Stampin' Up! order!).  I have used a Mojo Monday Sketch from a while back and let the Urban Garden Designer Series Paper do most of the work.  The lovely verse is from the Echoes Of Kindness Level 2 Hostess Set. This isn't one you can purchase, but I can let you know how you can earn it through hosting a Stampin' Up! workshop for a group of friends - contact me if you are interested.

This particular paper echoes the design of the Upsy Daisy stamp set which I have also stamped and then cut out with the circle punch and layered onto the scallop circle mat.  Although it doesn't come up well on the photo, I have added some Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the edges of the stamped daisies to give the card a lift.  The verse and the scallop image have been mounted on foam tape for added dimension.  This would make a nice thank you card I think.  I hope you like it.

Roses for Mojo Monday #87

Hi Everyone

Well, after a late night (or more correctly an early morning) on Thursday working on my blog and then a late night on Friday stamping with friends, I was repaid with a nasty migraine on Saturday that kept me confined to bed for the day.  I'm back on deck now to share with you the card I made on Friday night for the Mojo Monday Week #87 Sketch.   The Mojo Monday sketches allow you to focus on bringing all of the elements of the card together without agonising over the design because they have done that already!

This is a great sketch that I know I will use again as it lends itself to heaps of options with both stamps and designer papers.  I have combined the Bella Rose Designer Series Paper and the Rose Is a Rose stamp set again, using some of the other rose images in the set to show you how versatile it is. I have stamped the large and small rose buds in Riding Hood Red with Kiwi Kiss for the leaves and then arranged them on the background cut with Nestabilities circle and scallop circle dies. The small bud has been mounted on foam tape for some extra depth.

The sentiment comes from the really versatile Best Yet stamp set. This is a Level 1 Hostess Set that you can choose for FREE with a Stampin' Up! order over $300. There is a sentiment that will cover most occasions and they work really well with most of the Stampin' Up! punches, including the squares, circles, designer label, scallop square, curly label and some also fit the large oval. I love punching out the sentiment, because it doesn't matter if you don't get it perfectly straight when you stamp - you can adjust it when you punch it out. Here is the finished product, I hope you like it.

In the Pink...

Hi Again

Pink is one of my all time favourite colours to wear and to use in cardmaking.  This card I want to share with you was inspired by my stamping friend and Upline Claire Daly'Upsy Daisy' is one of the popular new 'silhouette' style stamp sets in the 2009-10 Stampin' Up! Catalogue. It lends itself to all kinds of techniques from normal inking to Stampin' Write markers, embossing, emboss resist, watercolour and shadow effects.

For this card the whole stamp was inked with Pink Pirouette and then Bravo Burgundy dabbed on with a sponge dauber (these are wonderfully versatile little items with all manner of uses!) and stamped onto Whisper White cardstock. Some Dazzling Diamonds glitter was added with a Zig Glue Pen for a bit of sparkle.  I have matted the image onto more Pink Pirouette cardstock, added some Bravo Burgundy grosgrain ribbon and then matted again onto Bravo Burgundy cardstock which has been edged with the lovely new Eyelet Border punch.

The sentiment is from the Curly Label Punch Bundle. This set contains the punch and 4 very versatile stamps that compliment the shape - it is great value. The punch also works well with many other sentiment stamps in the Stampin' Up! Catalogue.  I have hand cut the Bravo Burgundy mat for the punched sentiment. Here is the finished product - I hope you like it.

A Flower for all reasons...

Hello and welcome to the first post on my blog!

I would like to share with you a card that uses one of the great new sets in the 2009-10 Stampin' Up! Catalogue, called A Rose Is a Rose.  There are 14 stamps in the set and it looks a bit intimidating at first.  However, it provides a choice of the full blown rose, rose buds and leaves as well as the matching flowers to the Bella Rose Designer Series Paper  and a lovely sentiment 'Thank you for touching my life'. This is one of those classic sets that produces elegant cards for all occasions - birthday; anniversary; just to say hello or thank you and even for those difficult sympathy cards. Roses come in all shades so there is plenty of scope to adapt it to your needs.

This is a two-step stamping set that allows you to create a shaded effect with a softer base colour and a stronger top colour. I have used the same colour (Riding Hood Red) for both layers of the rose and for the leaves (Kiwi Kiss) but stamped off onto some scrap paper first to reduce the ink coverage for the softer colour. Using the Stamp-a-ma-jig positioning tool allows you to line up the two images perfectly. The rose and leaves have been cut out and mounted on foam pads (Dimensionals).

If you like the torn effect on your cards but still want to keep it fairly neat, here is a great tip I learned at the recent Stampin' Up! Convention. Take both layers of your cardstock and holding them firmly, gently tear towards you to achieve the required shape. This will expose the core layer giving a more textured effect. Separate the two layers and move them the required distance apart and trim the longer layer to the required size. This gives a similiar profile on both pieces.
