CASE-ing the Catty - Petal Passion Suite

CTC_Blog_Banner_edited

Hi there

This week the CTC Crew are taking inspiration from the Petal Passion Suite in the Occasions Catalogue on pages 22-27.

You may have come from visiting Rose's blog, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

This week, I'm taking my inspiration from the narrow note card in the top left of the the photo. I love the floral image from the 'Petal Palette' stamp set, plus all the great greetings make this set a keeper.

CTC168_SU_Sample

The new Narrow Note Cards & Envelopes are on page 19 of the Occasions Catalogue. You get 20 cards and envelopes for $14, so they will go a long way. They are too small to post, but are perfect to include with a gift. I got a bit carried away and decided to make a set of them! The Stampin' Blends are perfect for colouring the floral image and if you stamp and die cut them all first, it doesn't take long to colour them.

Stampin' Up! Petal Palette, Narrow Note Cards & Lots to Love Box - Judy May, Just Judy Designs
You can see I changed my cards to a landscape orientation, to make them easier to write in. I also wanted to add a colour coordinated border on my cards, without adding an extra layer, so I used a sponge dauber to quickly add some colour to the edges before adhering the black and white designer paper. I also sponged the end of each envelope in the coordinating ink and added the dots and the small flower image in Smoky Slate ink.

  CTC168_Pool_Rose_Closeup

I have replaced the white circle on the sample with a Vellum oval for my floral die cut to sit on, as it seemed a bit too harsh. The thank you greeting was stamped in the coordinating ink colour and tucked it under the die cut. You can see in the closeup above, that I have added clear Wink of Stella to the flowers for some subtle sparkle and a trio of rhinestones for the finishing touch. I have deliberately kept the cards as flat as possible, for the reason you will see below.  I couldn't resist doing a Pool Party version as it is one of my favourite colours.

Stampin' Up! Petal Palette, Narrow Note Cards & Lots to Love Box - Judy May, Just Judy Designs
With my set of cards completed, I broke open the 'Lots to Love Box' Framelits Dies to make the perfect sized box for my set of narrow note cards. I have used the same layout to embellish the front of the box, but instead of the black designer paper, I have used the dots stamp from 'Petal Palette' to create my own designer paper. I added a slightly larger stitched oval in Gold Foil under the vellum to take it up a notch and the oval has been popped up over the gold Love Mini Tinsel Trim for a final bit of bling. I love the greeting 'From the Heart' as it fits so well for a handmade gift.

The box comfortably fits the 6 narrow note cards and envelopes I made.

Pretty Thanks

Hi there

Before we get onto today's project, I need to apologise for an 'oopsie' with my blog on Sunday night. I had my CASE-ing the Catty blog post scheduled, but then on Saturday afternoon I was whisked away for the weekend for my birthday. I had 10 minutes notice to pack some clothes and as you can imagine I forgot all about my scheduled post, which I hadn't written yet. Anyway, that is a lesson for the future, lol.

Now onto the project I have to share today, which is all about thanks. I love dressing up small thank you gifts to make them special. I've made some tags that could be added to a card or a small gift. Of course, you could change the greeting for a birthday rather than thank you.

Stampin' Up! Wild About Flowers Tags - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I have used the second largest of the Lots of Labels Framelits as the base of my tag and stamped one of the flower sprays from the 'Wild about Flowers' in Old Olive ink. The flower heads are added in a second step and I've used the pretty Flirty Flamingo ink. A flagged banner is the base for the stamped greeting that I have punched out, sponged and popped up. It comes from the retired 'Petite Pairs' stamp set, still a favourite as it has many small greetings.  I popped a hole in the top of the tag and threaded some retired Flirty Flamingo ribbon through and tied it with white Baker's Twine. I've finished with some small pearls on the banner.

I have added one of finished tags to this customer thank you gift that I have put into one of the gorgeous gold Striped Treat Bags. Doesn't it look sweet?

CASE-ing the Catty - Catalogue Covers & Host Sets

CTC_Blog_Banner_edited

Hi there

At CASE-in the Catty this week, we are taking inspiration from the covers of the Annual and Holiday Catalogues as well as the Host sets that you can purchase with Stampin' Rewards.

You may have come from visiting Sandra's blog, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

CTC151_SU_Sample

This week, I'm CASE-ing the super cute card in the sample photo above. Aren't those little birds adorable? They are from a Host set in the Annual Catalogue (page 221) called 'Feathery Friends'. It is a set of 8 stamps in either clear or wood mount. You can purchase this set with your Stampin' Rewards for a special host-only price when you have an order totalling $250 or more before shipping. It can be your personal order or the cumulative orders from a Stampin' party.  In case you haven't seen it, this is the stamp set.

CTC151_Feathery_Friends

I loved this card as soon as I saw it in the catalogue and now I get to put my spin on it. These line images are quick to colour and you could use Watercolour Pencils, Stampin' Write markers, Blender Pen or Aquapainter and ink pads. However, an even better option is the new Stampin' Blends alcohol markers that will be available for purchase from 1 November 2017. With a brush tip and fine tip, they are perfect for the small details in these images. The ink goes on so smoothly and you only need a very light touch to get amazing coverage.

Stampin' Up! Feathery Friends Host Set - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I've changed up the colours for my card, with a Pink Pirouette card base that has been stamped with the large curved flower in Pink Pirouette ink for a subtle tone on tone effect. Next comes a Delicate White Doily, the flagged Pool Party banner and the large stitched oval that has a Bermuda Bay scallop trim on each side. I have stamped the birds on Whisper White card stock with the Memento Tuxedo Black ink that is recommended for use with the Stampin' Blends alcohol markers. I selected 4 colours - Light and Dark Pink Pirouette, Dark Pool Party and Light Bermuda Bay to colour the images.

Stampin' Up! Feathery Friends Host Set - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

You can see in this closeup, I have done a little bit of shading on the wings and the larger flowers, but it doesn't need much. I fussy cut the birds and the flower and popped them up on the branch from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits that was cropped from Crumb Cake card stock. I have added a little thank you greeting and punched it out with the Classic Label punch, but it would also be perfect for a birthday or friendship card too.

Stampin' Up! Feathery Friends Host Set - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

For the inside, I have the writing panel sitting on a Pool Party mat and at the base is a strip of Blushing Bride washi, which blends in quite well. I have stamped and coloured the curved stem image and popped up another fussy cut flower, coloured in Pink Pirouette this time. I love this soft and pretty colour combo.

CASE-ing the Catty - Artistic Expression

Hi there

I hope you enjoyed all the extra inspiration from our new crew members last week.  This week we are looking at the 'Artistic Expression' section of the Annual Catalogue on pages 132-181.

You may have come from visiting Sandra's blog, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post. Sandra is one of our new DT members, so welcome Sandra, it is great to have you here!

     CTC137_SU_Sample

It was a hard choice to make this week, as there were a few projects I wanted to CASE. However, I settled on the one above, as it is the sample that enticed me to purchase the 'Bunch of Blossoms' stamp set and the coordinating punch. I saw this sample when we first received the new catalogue and managed to buy the bundle before it retired. I really enjoy colouring and I love the dimension and texture you get from  a 3D flower on your project.  As you can see you don't need to add much to get a 'wow' effect.

Stampin' Up! Bunch of Blossoms for CASE-ing the Catty - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I have used Shimmery White card stock for the background and for the flowers. The background is a light wash of Soft Sky ink, which shows paler than it is in the photos. The sun was streaming into my craft room when I took these photos, so it has washed out the background a bit.  I chose to stamp and punch out all the petals and stamens and then did the colouring and then the construction. I ended up with 4 flowers in different colours, but still have 2 to finish constructing.

Stampin' Up! Bunch of Blossoms for CASE-ing the Catty - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I constructed the flowers in 2 layers; the large petals were attached with glue dots to a 1" circle and the smaller ones attached with glue dots to a 3/4" circle and then joined together with a foam pad. The centres were offset and joined with a glue dot and then added to the centre of the flower. I finished with a small Clear Faceted Gem in the centre. The large leaves were coloured with Old Olive ink and then fussy cut. The smaller leaves can be punched out.

I've chosen to highlight the art piece with a black mat and added some Linen Thread at the top and before popping it up on the coordinating base card. This one is Berry Burst and the other is Calypso Coral. You can see some of the sparkle in the flower from the Shimmery White card stock in this close-up.

CTC137_BB_Inside

For the inside, I have a black mat and some washi from Basics Pack 1 at the bottom. The flowers are actually Flirty Flamingo, but they work well with the lighter Berry Burst in the flower.

CASE-ing the Catty - Thanks!

Hi there

This week we are welcoming new members to the design team - that means more inspiring projects for you to look at! Please make them welcome by leaving them some blog love. This week we are looking at the 'Thanks' section of the Annual Catalogue on pages 126-131. I love sending thank you cards - being grateful is something we can all do to bring happiness to ourselves and others. There is no better way to do that, than with a handmade made card, so I like to have a stash of them.

You may have come from visiting Angela's blog, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post. Angela is one of our new DT members, so welcome Angela, it is great to have you here!

    CTC136_SU_Sample

This week, I'm CASE-ing  the card in the photo, which is on page 126.  This layout is great for showcasing our lovely designer paper as well as using up those strips that we have left over from other projects. You can intersperse panels of stamping and embossing for added interest.

Stampin' Up! Whole Lot of Lovely for CASE-ing the Catty - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I have used the 'Whole Lot of Lovely' designer series paper for my card - the first time I have cut into this lovely set of papers. I went on a journey with this card and it didn't end up where I had imagined, but sometimes you just have to go with the flow. The borders of Tranquil Tide card stock between the designs frames them and gives the card a more graphic look than the sample. I added one of the wooden heart elements and a Powder Pink Bitty Bow for the embellishments. With all the colour and patterns, I don't think it needs anything more.

Stampin' Up! Whole Lot of Lovely for CASE-ing the Catty - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

You can see the embellishment better in this closeup. I cut a panel of Whisper White and adhered the strips and borders on to it and then trimmed it and mounted it onto the Powder Pink base card with foam pads. I think it makes for a neater result.

Stampin' Up! Whole Lot of Lovely for CASE-ing the Catty - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

For the inside, I have a Pool Party mat and a some of the cute striped Daffodil Delight washi from the Basics Pack 2 set at the bottom. I then used one of the elements from the 'Eclectic Layers' Thinlits to emboss the leaves at the bottom. The flower image is from the coordinating 'Oh So Eclectic' stamp set which has been coloured with Copics, die cut and adhered over the top.

Sparkle & Shine!

Hi there

I have a couple of sweet and simple cards to share today. I have combined 2 of the 3 fabulous NEW Sale-a-bration products that will be available for you to choose with a $90 product order from Tuesday 21 February.

The first product is this pack of 12, 6 x 6 sheets of gorgeous glimmer paper in Sweet Sugarplum, Mint Macaron and Bermuda Bay. You have to see this in real life to appreciate the gorgeous sparkle. It also co-ordinates with the Cupcakes & Carousels, Falling in Love and Succulent Garden suites from the Occasions Catalogue.

Screen Shot 02-18-17 at 11.55 AM

The second of the new Sale-a-bration options I have used is the 'Make A Medallion' photopolymer stamp set. It is a set of 8 stamps for 2-step stamping, giving you a number of combinations to use. It also co-ordinates with the Layering Circles Framelits dies and you get 3 versatile greetings to use as well.

Make_a_Medallion

Now for the cards I made. The first uses the Sweet Sugarplum glimmer paper and I co-ordinated it with the stamped medallion in Rich Razzleberry and Sweet Sugarplum. I used the new Hexagon Dynamic embossing folder for the crisp white background. Make sure you  give the back of your card stock a light spritz with water for a fabulous result with this embossing folder.

The base card is Smoky Slate and I added a mat of Sweet Sugarplum to tie it all together. The greeting is heat embossed in white and punched out with the Classic Label punch. Here is a close-up of the glimmer paper.

Sugarplum_Med_Closeup

The second card uses the stunning Bermuda Bay glimmer paper and the stamped medallion combines Pool Party and Bermuda Bay. I have chosen to leave some white space around the medallion, but you can crop it closer with a smaller Layering Circle framelit.

This time I used my favourite 'Softly Falling' embossing folder for the background to the flagged glimmer paper. Here is a close-up that shows the amazing sparkle.

Which colour do you prefer?  I can't choose - they are both so pretty.  These thank you cards will be winging their way to some lovely customers in the near future.

CASE-ing the Catty - Favourite Hostess Set

CTC_Blog_Banner_edited

Hi there

Welcome to the CASE-ing the Catty blog hop for this week, where we are looking at our favourite Hostess stamp set from either the Annual or Holiday Catalogues. This was a hard choice as I really love quite a few of the Hostess sets, but I only had time to make one project.

You may have come from Kelly's blog, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

This week I have taken my inspiration from this card on the bottom of page 200 of the Annual Catalogue. 'Gift of Love' was the stamp set that I received from Stampin' Up! to create display board samples for Onstage in April 2016, so I do have a soft spot for it.

CTC106_SU_Sample

I have used some of the products and techniques in the sample, but also did a bit of my own thing. I started with Shimmery White card card stock and did a light wash with my aqua painter and Pink Piroutte reinker diluted with water. The flower image was stamped in Basic Gray Archival ink and then water coloured with ink pads and aqua painter and fussy cut.   I went with a double row of the Very Vanilla Lace Trim and topped it with some of the gold Natural trim.

Stampin' Up! Gift of Love for CTC106 - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

Instead of using ink to give the speckled effect, I decided to try a technique that Sara talked about at OnStage where you dilute Tombow glue with water and then flick it onto the card stock. You then sprinkle on embossing powder and melt with your heat gun as usual.  The result is raised gold specks which look great.  I found that it works best if the spots aren't too large. Also, less is more as you get some very small spots that you don't see until you put the embossing powder on. It is definitely worth trying.  I need a bit more practice getting the spots where I want them, lol. I hope you can see the raised speckles in the closeup photo below.

Stampin' Up! Gift of Love for CTC106 - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

For the inside, I stamped the flower image again and left it uncoloured and added a striped of striped Watermelon Wonder washi tape at the bottom.

The same, but different...

Hi there

Today I have two cards to share with you. One we made in class last week uses the no-fail classic colour combo of navy and white with the lovely 'Floral Phrases' stamp set.  I really liked the layout, so decided to try it again as a Christmas card, using some new goodies from the forthcoming Holiday Catalogue.

I didn't have enough of the Floral Boutique designer paper for the class, so I went with the Night of Navy layered on the thick Whisper White card base. The stamped layer is matted on silver foil and uses the main floral image from 'Floral Phrases' at the top, together with the Floral Boutique washi set to separate the lovely sentiment from the same set. I added some white Baker's twine before popping up the panel in the centre. I've kept the same border on all the layers for a balanced symmetrical look.  The result is a very elegant thank you card that could also work well as a sympathy or wedding card with a change of sentiment.

  Stampin' Up Floral Phrases

For the inside, I have used the other floral image to create a border at the base of the writing panel.

Stamps Floral Phrases
Card stock & Papers     Night of Navy, Whisper White, Silver Foil
 Ink Night of Navy
Accessories White Baker's Twine, Rhinestones Basic Jewels, Floral Boutique Washi set
Tools      Trimmer, Dimensionals, Stampamajig

When I saw the images in the new 'Greetings from Santa' stamp set, I thought they would translate well to the same layout. For the top section I have stamped the tree and reindeer image and then added the fabulous washi from the new 'Presents & Pinecones' suite. The sentiment is a favourite from the 'Wondrous Wreath' stamp set and the Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine is also new in the Holiday Catalogue from the 'Baker's Twine Trio' pack. The centre panel was popped up as with the first one. The finished card has less layers than the first, but the layout remains the same.

Stampin' Up! Santa's List

For the inside, I have used some of the striped washi at the bottom and have stamped the pine tree and reindeer above it to finish.

I think Emerald Envy and Cherry Cobbler/Real Red is going to be one of my go-to colour combos for Christmas this year. The emerald is so vibrant.

New Catty Sneak Peak -'Love You Lots'

Hi there

I have another of my OnStage samples to share with you today. This one uses the super-cute 'Love You Lots' Hostess set from the new 2016-17 Annual Catalogue that will be released on 1 June 2016. This is definitely one you want to add to your Wish List to purchase with the Stampin' Rewards that you earn when you place an order or host a party with sales of $250 or more.

The set has 4 cute 'critter' images and 4 greetings that make for lovely thank you and friendship cards. The hedgehogs are definitely one of my favourites. I have stamped them on Shimmery White card stock and then used an aqua painter and ink pads to add a touch of colour. You don't need much so it is very quick to do.  Once that was dry I masked the hedgehogs and stamped the ground from the 'Sheltering Tree' set upside down for them to stand on. The sunburst from 'Kinda Ecletic' in the corner balances the greeting on the right that has been die cut with the 'Tags & Labels' dies.

Stampin' Up! 'Love You Lots' - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

The image panel was added to the Tip Top Taupe card base that was stamped with the 'Hardwood' image for a tone on tone look. I've added a Watermelon Wonder trim on each side and some of the new Mini Striped ribbon forms the base for the white Baker's Twine bow.

Project Details

CASE-ing the Catty - Going Places

CTC_Blog_Banner_edited

Hi there

It is lovely to be back CASE-ing the Catty tonight and the CTC Crew are taking their inspiration from the large 'Going Places' section of the Occasions Catalogue this week.

You may have come from Julia's Blog, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

I've taken my inspiration from these Stampin' Up! samples on Page 41 of the Occasions catty. I love sending thank you cards to customers and these cute square cards caught my eye.  Covering the front of your card base edge t0 edge makes for a simple starting point and it is a great way to put your designer paper to use.

Occasions16_p41_edited

To make it economical I've cut a sheet of 12 x 12 Mint Macaron card stock into strips of 10cm x 20cm (4" x 8"). You can make 4 cards from a sheet. Cut a 10cm strip of designer paper and cut again into 10cm pieces. I'm using the ice cream cone design from the 'Birthday Bouquet' designer paper as the base for all the cards and I using the corner round to soften the bottom edge.  This is what I came up with.

Stampin' Up! Birthday Bouquet Thank You cards - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I have chosen 3 layouts from the samples. The first one has two narrow banners down the side and the thank you sentiment from the retired 'Lots of Thanks' punched out.  The only variation to the layout is the Crumb Cake ribbon at the top (I couldn't help myself, lol).

CTC77_Card_1

This the second one I made, layering up my favourite thank you greeting from the 'One Big Meaning' stamp set on tags from the 'Tags & Labels' Framelits dies.

CTC77_Card_2

The last one is the simplest of the three, with the designer paper doing all the heavy lifting. I've put my greetings on the right side instead of the left and finished it with my favourite flower from the retiring Itty Bitty Punch pack.
