This week, I'm taking my inspiration from the card above, on page 17 of the Holiday Catalogue. I've cropped the image, so you can see it more clearly. I'm taking a break from Christmas cards this week, so I've used one of the lovely all-purpose stamp sets that are in the Holiday Catalogue. By that I mean, it is one that is not holiday specific, called Country Home

Stampin' Up! Country Home, Buffalo Check & Tin Tile Dynamic TIEF - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I've incorporated a number of other new products as well, to create a country feel to my card. The card base is Gray Granite and the next layer is also Gray Granite and embossed with the lovely Tin Tile Dynamic embossing folder. I'm old enough to remember pressed tin (as we called them) ceilings, which were much more interesting to look at than our modern white plaster (IMHO!). The banner  has been stamped in Pool Party ink with the Buffalo Check background stamp. With this stamp you can create your gingham in any colour you want. Unfortunately, I wasn't brave enough to get the sewing machine out and go around the embossed panel, but I think it would have made it pop, as it did in the sample.

Stampin' Up! Country Home, Buffalo Check & Tin Tile Dynamic TIEF - Judy May, Just Judy Designs
The focus image is the lovely jug of flowers from the Country Home stamp set. The stamp set also includes a milk churn, another floral image to mix and match with the jug and a variety of large and small greetings. I have stamped the jug first and then the flowers on top, using Early Espresso ink which is perfectly fine to use with your Stampin' Blends if you want an alternative to black. The stamps are photopolymer, making it very easy to line them up. I've fussy cut the image and then popped it up on foam pads on the largest stitched oval which has a mat of Calypso Coral. The greeting is from the Darling Label stamp set and has been cropped with the stitched label from the Stitched Labels Framelits.

For the inside, I have stamped part of the floral image in the bottom corner of the writing panel and coloured with Stampin' Blends.

CTC_Blog_Banner_edited

Hi there

I have been busy for the last few days prepping and running a class, so I left it to today to make my card. I had selected the card above for my inspiration, but it led me on a merry dance. I do not have the Bouquet Blooms Bundle used in this sample, but had in mind exactly what I would replace it with. Well, I got there eventually and I'm reasonably happy with the final product. Unfortunately I ran out of natural light as the afternoon became very gloomy in Melbourne.  We've had our allocation of sunshine for now, it seems. So here it is:

Stampin' Up! Beautiful Bouquet - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

The base card is my favourite Balmy Blue and I've stamped the leaf from the 'Share What You Love' stamp set on 2 sides in Balmy Blue ink. For the art panel I have used thick Whisper White and embossed it with the 'Subtle' embossing folder to add interest and texture.  I added the cute scallop trim from the Bouncing Baby Framelits to the edge.  Next came the die cut wreath in Crumb Cake, using the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits.

CTC193_Wreath_Bouquet_Close

I've used the 'Beautiful Bouquet' stamp set and coordinating Bouquet Bunch Framelits to stamp and die cut my cluster of flowers and leaves and arranged them on the right side of the wreath, popping them up at different heights.  I cut a few strips of whisper white and using the Stamparatus, stamped a set of flowers in each colour, so I could play around with the placement. The greeting from 'Varied Vases' stamp set was popped under the flowers. I added some tiny rhinestones to the little blue flowers and popped the silver and white twine bow underneath one.

CTC193_Wreath_Bouquet_Insid

For the inside I have a double mat, with a strip of Crumb Cake striped designer paper at the bottom. I've added a little cluster of flowers in the corner, from the leftover bits and pieces.

CASE-ing the Catty - Tranquil Textures

CTC_Blog_Banner_edited

Hi there

I'm channelling spring today, with my inspiration coming from the card above, on page 161 of the Annual Catalogue with the pretty blossom flowers. It has been a very cold winter in Melbourne this year and blossom trees herald the arrive of spring. It can't come soon enough for me! I get to enjoy this gorgeous blossom tree that is in the neighbour's front yard to give me hope that the warmer weather will arrive soon. I even managed to get some blue sky in the photo during the sunny break today.

CTC192_Blossom_Tree

I started with a piece of Shimmery White paper and used my aqua painter and Balmy Blue ink pad to create a soft wash of blue for the background. I then stamped the branches from the 'Colorful Seasons' stamp set and mounted it onto the Blushing Bride mat. The blossoms were stamped in Blushing Bride ink with Soft Suede for the centres and then cropped with the coordinating dies from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits.

Stampin' Up! Colorful Seasons - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I chose to use a different sentiment from the same stamp set which I think works well with spring being a time of renewal. I embossed it in Early Espresso on vellum card stock. You can do this with any colour by inking your stamp in Versamark first and then in the ink colour of your choice and stamp onto the card stock. Sprinkle with clear embossing powder and heat. I attached it with narrow double sided tape on the left because it was going to be under the linen thread and the blossom flower on the right.

CTC192_Blossom_Close

I used my bone folder to slightly curve the petals upward for some extra dimension and popped them up on the branches. I finished with the double row of linen thread down the side and a scattering of pretty pearls. A strip of wood grain designer paper was added to the left edge of the Crumb Cake card base and the finished art panel was popped on foam pads

CTC192_Blossom_Inside
For the inside I have a mat of Blushing Bride for the writing panel and at the bottom is the die cut branch from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits in Soft Suede card stock and I've added a few more blossoms and pearls to finish.

CASE-ing the Catty - Nature's Poem

CTC_Blog_Banner_edited

Hi there

This week the CTC crew are taking inspiration from Nature's Poem on pages 142-153 of the Annual Catalogue. All of the projects in this section are about nature and the outdoors. I got a bit ahead of myself with last week's project, but never mind, there are lots of lovely projects left to choose from.

If you've come from Simone's blog, then welcome! If you're visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today! You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

CTC191_SU_Sample
This week, I've taken my inspiration from this card (above) on Page 144 of the Annual Catalogue. I was really taken with the Blackberry Bliss designer paper in this sample. I think I'm a bit obsessed with the purple tones at the moment, but I'm sure I'll move on soon, lol. This card provided me with the opportunity to ink up the 'Rooted in Nature' stamp set for the first time. The skeleton leaves are one of my favourite images from this set and are perfect for making your own beautiful designer backgrounds as well.

Stampin' Up! Nature's Poem Suite - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

When I opened the pack and saw the Blackberry Bliss paper, it was actually much darker than shown in the sample, so I wanted to lighten it up a bit. I heat embossed the sentiment from 'Ribbon of Courage' directly onto the designer paper and then adhered it to the Copper Foil mat and onto my thick Very Vanilla card base, leave some vanilla showing on each side. I did consider using copper embossing powder, but I don't think it would have shown up as well. Instead I've used an ivory embossing powder (not Stampin' Up!) and it looks lovely in real life.

CTC191_Skeleton_Leaves_Clos

I decided to go for a 'less is more' approach to the embellishment by adding a shorter strip of Burlap Ribbon on the right hand side and then adding my stamped skeleton leaves in a random arrangement using glue dots. I added the bow in Fresh Fig 1/8" Sheer Ribbon, which works well with Blackberry Bliss and finished with a copper leaf from the Leaves Trinkets as an alternative to the tag in the sample. You can see the details in the leaves and the lovely copper trinket in this closeup.

CTC191_Skeleton_Leaves_insi
For the inside, I have a double mat of Copper Foil and Blackberry Bliss card stock and then I've added some more of the smaller stamped and fussy cut skeleton leaves at the bottom of the writing panel to finish. There is a coordinating die for the skeleton leaves, but I wanted a closer cut and they are very quick to fussy cut.

Stampin' Up! Nature's Poem Suite - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I found this card very hard to photograph and I'm not sure I've done it justice. However, the colour is much closer to real life than the sample!

More Blended Seasons

Hi there

Today, I wanted to share another card I've made with the new limited-time 'Blended Seasons' stamp set. This fabulous stamp set and coordinating 'Stitched Seasons Framelits' are available until 31 August 2018 or until supplies last.

This time I have used the large floral stamp and my Stampin' Blends alcohol markers in Flirty Flamingo and Granny Apple Green to colour the image. I originally intended this to be a square card, but then decided to add the pretty border created with the Delicate Lace Edgelits Dies.

Stampin' Up! Blended Seasons - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

The base card is Gray Granite, a new neutral that is best described as a warm grey, but has heaps of punch. It works really well with the lots of colours.

Stampin' Up! Blended Seasons - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I stamped and coloured the middle flower again and fussy cut it before popping up on foam pads for extra dimension. The greeting is from the 'Darling Label' stamp set and I have popped it up on the decorative circle, die cut from the Stitched Labels Framelits dies. You can see a slight shadow around the edge of the image that I added with a WOO Copic marker to add extra depth.

Blended_Seasons_Flower_Insi

For the inside I have added a double mat for the writing panel and popped up another stamped, coloured and fussy cut flower in the bottom corner. It sits on a narrow border of striped Flirty Flamingo designer paper. It doesn't show up well in the photo, but I also have embossed a stitched trim underneath the designer paper.

This card is going to a lovely friend who has a milestone birthday this week. I hope she likes it!

CASE-ing the Catty - Artistic Expression

CTC_Blog_Banner_edited

Hi there

The Artistic Expressions chapter on pages  126-179 of the Annual Catalogue is the focus this week at CASE-ing the Catty. This chapter has a fabulous array of samples and I only wish I had time to do more than one CASE.

If you've come from visiting the lovely Kelly Kent, then welcome to my blog ! If you're visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today! You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

CTC190_SU_Sample
This week, I've taken my inspiration from this card (above) on Page 151 of the Annual Catalogue. I really love the layout and the bright pop of white against the floral image and Rich Razzleberry side panel.

Stampin' Up! Floral Statements - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

You can see that I have also used the 'Floral Statements' stamp set for my card and stayed close to the layout with a few small changes. I started by stamping the image in Early Espresso ink as I wanted it to be a little bit softer than black would be.  You may not notice the difference  in the photo, but you would if you saw it side-by-side with a black version.  I decided to have a tiny border showing around the white stamped panel and I think it adds a bit of extra pop. I've also used the 2 halves of a Pearlized Doily for the embellishment on the side as it worked better with the slightly long length of our cards.

I've coloured the image with my Stampin' Blends alcohol markers in my current favourite colours of Granny Apple Green, Gorgeous Grape and Highland Heather.  These are 3 of the new colours added this year and I think they are fabulous! Stamping your image in any of the Stampin' Up! Classic inks works perfectly fine with your alcohol markers. I always heat set the image before I start colouring, to make sure it is perfectly dry.

CTC190_Grape_Rose_close
If you look closely on the Stampin' Up! sample card you can see that the lace image from the 'Southern Serenade' stamp set has been stamped in the background. To add interest and texture to my stamped panel I ran it through the Big Shot after finishing the colouring, using the 'Subtle' embossing folder and you can see the result in the close-up photo above. It was a bit of gamble, but I'm really happy with the way it turned out. I love the pretty Mini Striped Grosgrain ribbon that borders the stamped panel and I decided to finish it with a flat bow that sits in the centre of the doilies.

Stampin' Up! Graceful Garden - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I wanted to finish off the inside of the card with something in a similar style and remembered this small rose from the 'Graceful Garden' stamp set. Don't you think it is perfect?  I've coloured it with the same Stampin' Blends as the main image and then fussy cut it. I did go a little OTT (over-the-top) with a double mat and a narrow strip of Granny Apple Green DSP at the base of the writing panel. Do you see that cute embossed stitching? I've used the border die from the Stitched Labels Framelits and the new Embossing Mats to add that little decorative touch. I love having the inside of the card as pretty as the outside!

Stampin' Up! Floral Statements - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

Finally, you can see the pretty rhinestones that I coloured with the Gorgeous Grape Stampin' Blend marker for a perfect match.

Project Details
Stamps Floral Statements, Graceful Garden
Card stock & Papers Whisper White, Gorgeous Grape, Brights DSP
 Ink Early Espresso, Highland Heather
Accessories Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Pearlized Doilies, 1/4" Mini Striped Grosgrain ribbon

CASE-ing the Catty - Love, Thanks & Support

CTC_Blog_Banner_edited

Hi there

This week the CTC Crew are taking inspiration from the Love, Support & Thanks section on pages 104-125 of the Annual Catalogue. There are lots of fabulous samples in this section and it was hard to choose just one. I love having cards in my stash that I can send to people when they need a bit of extra TLC and who doesn't want to feel the love from receiving a beautiful handmade card in the mail.

You may have come from visiting Rebecca's blog, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

CTC189_SU_Sample
I've taken my inspiration from the cards on 106, that use the Petal Promenade Suite. I've cropped out the card above from the image so you can see it more clearly. This card uses one of the rectangular floral frames that come on one sheet of the Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper. There are also similiar smaller square floral frames and wreaths on the same sheet.

Stampin' Up! Petal Promenade - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I've chosen soft and pretty colours to pair with my floral frame as the green border in the sample doesn't do it for me! I cut right on the edge of the frame and then used my Blushing Bride marker to go around the edges and take away the white core,  before matting onto Gold Foil. I popped up the floral panel onto the gorgeous new Rose Glimmer paper as I find this the most reliable way to adhere to glimmer paper as well as adding dimension. The finished panel was layered onto the thick Whisper White base card. When using a pre-sized panel such as the floral frames from Petal Promenade, I recommend you start from the centre and layer outwards and make any adjustments required to the size of the base card. I had to trim the length slightly to keep my card symmetrical.

CTC189_Floral_Frame_Close

I picked out the darker pink of the small flowers as I think it makes the image pop. The narrow flagged banner in Berry Burst sits on a stitched circle in Gold Foil. I stamped the frame from the 'Label Me Pretty' stamp set and heat embossed it in gold and then added the greeting from the 'Darling Label' stamp set in Berry Burst ink and punched it out with the Pretty Label punch. It is popped up over the banner and Gold Foil circle. I finished it off with a trio of pearls either side.

CTC189_Floral_Frame_Inside

For the inside I have used Gold Foil to mat the writing panel, which has a strip of the coordinating designer paper at the base, topped with a thin band of Rose Glimmer paper to finish.

The glimmer paper is hard to photograph, but it is very pretty  in real life!

CASE-ing the Catty - Kids & Babies

CTC_Blog_Banner_edited

Hi there

This week the CTC Crew are taking inspiration from the Kids & Babies section of the Annual Catalogue on pages 80-91.

You may have come from visiting Peta's blog, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

CTC187_SU_Sample

I've taken inspiration from this card on page 87. I love the extra dimension you get with the recessed background as well as all the little details that have been included in this card. I'm not overly fond of foxes, so I decided to ink up the cute bear from the 'A Little Wild' stamp set for the first time, using Stampin' Blends to colour him.

Stampin' Up! A Little Wild - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I've stayed fairly close to the layout of the sample by using the Layering Circles framelits to cut the circle in the Balmy Blue layer. I spritzed the front of the card stock and then embossed it with the 'Subtle' embossing folder. I love the linen-like texture that results. You do get a more defined and even result if you spritz with water first, so I highly recommend that.  I chose Balmy Blue for a sky background so I added some clouds with Shimmery White embossing paste and the mask from Pattern Party Decorative Masks.

Stampin' Up! A Little Wild - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

For the background behind the circle, I cut a piece of Whisper White slightly larger and then sponged it lightly with Sahara Sand ink to soften the stark white. I stamped the leaves from the 'Foxy Friends' stamp set and the toad stools from the 'Hedgehugs' stamp set to add interest.  Foam pads were closely spaced around the circle on the reverse of the Balmy Blue layer and then positioned over the background. The tree stump, bear, bee hive and greeting were then placed in position. I added more foam pads around the edges of the Balmy Blue layer and adhered it to the Crumb Cake Base card. This close-up gives you a good view of the dimension and the details.

Stampin' Up! A Little Wild - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

For the inside, I have a Balmy Blue mat for the writing panel and I stamped some grass, the bee hive and bees at the base and finished with a strip of the striped Crumb Cake designer paper.

CASE-ing the Catty - Birthdays

CTC_Blog_Banner_edited

Hi there

I'm pleased to be back with the Crew, case-ing the fabulous new Annual Catalogue. This week we are taking our inspiration from the Birthdays section of the catalogue on Pages 66-79

You may have come from visiting Rachel's blog, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

CTC186_SU_Sample

I've taken inspiration from the square shaker card on the bottom of page 68. I don't have this set of products, but it was the frame itself that inspired me as I thought it would form a nice base for the lovely rose from the new 'Healing Hugs' stamp set. I love that we now have a stamp set with sentiments to send get well wishes. The rose image is one of the new DistINKtive type stamps that create amazing depth with just a single stamped image.

Stampin' Up! Healing Hugs - Judy May, Just Judy Designs
I started with a base card of thick Whisper White and added a panel of the new Balmy Blue card stock embossed with the new 'Tufted' Dynamic embossing folder. I love this clear blue that reminds me of the long retired Bashful Blue. The embossing folder adds a lovely diamond pattern that is still quite subtle and perfect for background interest. I created a multi-layer frame using the squares from the Stitched Shapes framelits and added some of the striped designer paper from the new 6" x 6" stacks in each of the colour collections to the reverse of the smallest frame. I'm really happy we have a matching designer paper for every colour again.

Stampin' Up! Healing Hugs - Judy May, Just Judy Designs
I stamped the gorgeous rose in Berry Burst ink and the leaves in Garden Green ink and fussy cut them on edge of the images. I don't often do this, but I liked it better without the border. Go around the edge of your image with a coordinating marker (from the reverse side) to cover the white core. I used a single colour this time, but you can create lovely effects by layering on additional colour with a sponge dauber to create shaded and variegated roses. I white embossed one of the greetings on the new Blueberry Bushel card stock and added a flagged end. This is also a gorgeous clear blue. You can see some of the details in this closeup.

Stampin' Up! Healing Hugs - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

For the inside, I created a border at the base of the writing panel with two of the other images in the 'Healing Hugs' stamp set. To add a bit more pop, I added a 3mm border of the Berry Burst striped designer paper at the top and bottom.

Hi there

Tonight the Art with Heart team are sharing creative projects featuring products from the last chance (retiring) products list. There are lots of products to choose from with retiring stamp sets, ink pads and ink refills guaranteed to be available until 7 May (and all other products while supplies last). Use the Contact Me link in the side bar to get in touch with your order or go to my Online Store and place your order. Browsing the Last-Chance Products in the Online Store is the best and easiest way to see what is retiring.

Although it was not intentional, I have managed to incorporate a number of retiring products into my project. The focus of my card is the lovely 'Butterfly Basics' stamp set. This is a 2-box set of 11 stamps that is available in photopolymer, clear and wood mount. It has such a great range of images and you can create different styles of cards from clean and simple to layered and collage. I haven't given it much love recently, so I wanted to do something a bit different to my normal style. This is the stamp set and the coordinating Butterflies Thinlits Dies are also retiring.

I've started with a panel of Whisper White and stamped the little hexagon background all over  in Daffodil Delight ink. I masked off a half centimetre on the edges to give it a more random finish (this is so NOT me, lol). The lovely fern image came next, stamped in Old Olive, both first and second generation images.  Then came the Delicate White Doily which is another retiring product and my off-centre stitched square backed with vellum to frame the floral image.

The greeting is from the 'Hello Friend' stamp set (another favourite that is retiring), stamped in Old Olive and popped up on a Marina Mist circle cut with the (retiring) 1-3/8" Circle punch. The finished panel was adhered to the Marina Mist card base. Marina Mist is a retiring colour that I will miss.

The flower was coloured with Pink Pirouette and Old Olive Stampin' Blends alcohol markers. As Pink Pirouette is a retiring colour (sob), the corresponding Blends markers are also retiring. I have fussy cut the flower and popped it up over the frame. I have finished with some of the small gold Metallic Enamel Shapes that are retiring and a double bow of white Baker's Twine. This photo shows more of the details of the layers and dimension.

For the inside, I've stamped the hexagon background at the base of the writing panel and topped it with the slanted line. On the side, the fern has been partially stamped with first and second generation images and I added the sweet butterfly in Marina Mist. The Bitty Butterfly punch is already retired, but it doesn't take much to fussy cut it.
