Sweet Baby Bear

Hi there

The card I'm sharing today is one that I designed especially for a recent private class. One of the lovely ladies wanted to learn how to get a good result with the Baby Bear stamp. It is a 3-step stamp and the images are numbered 1, 2 and 3 in the order in which Stampin' Up! suggests they should be stamped.  Personally, I find it easier to go 3, 2,1 so that you are putting down the darkest colour first. I think it makes it easier to line up the other 2 stamps - I use his bottom and the inside edges of his paws as reference points when lining up the second and third stamps.

I have provided a patchwork background for this sweet bear image using the smallest square from the Stitched Shapes Framelits to die cut 3 of the patterns from the Blushing Bride designer paper (from the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack). I wanted to have 2 designs that were predominantly Blushing Bride and 2 that had more white, so I die cut 3 squares in Whisper White and then stamped over them with the heart stamp from the 'Bloomin' Love' stamp set in Blushing Bride ink to produce the floral squares. The squares are mounted onto a piece of Whisper White card stock and a strip with the 'congrats' greeting from the 'Vertical Greetings' stamp set was added to the right hand end, making the finished panel level. I added a strip of Crumb Cake and some White Organza Ribbon before mounting the panel onto a Crumb Cake mat and then onto the Blushing Bride card base.

Stampin' Up! Baby Bear - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I wanted a soft natural looking bear, so the ink colours I used were (in my 3, 2 1 order) - Soft Suede, Crumb Cake and Sahara Sand. I then die cut the image (not an SU die) and popped it up over the Crumb Cake strip with foam pads. I have finished it off with some tiny flowers with pearl centres.

This close-sup shows the lovely stitched detailed in the squares and the soft browns in the bear. With all the detail on the front of the card, I have kept the inside simple.

Baby_Bear_Patchwork_Inside

I have used a Crumb Cake mat for the writing panel and a greeting in the same colour from the 'Made with Love' stamp set. A strip of spotted Blushing Bride designer paper at the bottom finishes it off.

Reverse Words for Baby

Hi there

I've been away visiting family  for the last 10 days, so I'm looking forward to getting crafty again. I did take a stamp set and my water colour paper and pencils with me so I will have a few cards to show you shortly.

Can you believe we are more than half way through March already, so there is less than 2 weeks left to take advantage of the FREE Sale-a-bration products available with every $90 order. We are at that stage where Sale-a-bration products are available only while stocks last, so order now to make sure you don't miss out on the item you want.

Don't forget, as an extra bonus from me, you will get an entry into the draw for $50 of Stampin' Up! product of your choice and if you use this month's Hostess Code YURRHD6U, you will receive another small gift directly from me. That is 3 great reasons to place your order now.  My random number generator will be drawing the winner on 1 April 2017 and you will have an excellent chance of being the lucky person I contact.

Today I wanted to share a card I made with the Sale-a-bration Second Release stamp set, 'Reverse Words'. This is a set of 2 large stamps with the words 'hooray' and 'cheers' that show through the stamped background. The 'hooray' is perfect for greetings on birthday cards, but I wanted to extend it a bit further, so I have made a sweet baby card.

Stampin' Up! Reverse Words (Sale-a-bration) with Moon Baby - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I have stamped the 'hooray' in Crumb Cake ink towards to bottom of the art piece and then added the cute baby from the 'Moon Baby' stamp set. I stamped the image with Basic Gray Archival ink onto Shimmery white card stock before colouring with my Aqua painter and ink pads and then fussy cutting. The banner from 'Endless Thanks' has been stamped with the 'it's a girl'  greeting from the Sale-a-bration stamp set 'Any Occasion', fussy cut and popped up at the base.  I used a Copic marker to give the banner the pale pink background. The art piece has been matted on the beautiful Sweet Sugarplum glimmer paper from the Glimmer Assortment pack, another of the Second Release Sale-a-bration items. The base card is Crumb Cake and I have finished it with a little banner and double bow in white Baker's twine and a little bling.

Hooray_Baby_Inside

The writing panel has a mat of Sweet Sugarplum and at the base is a strip of Crumb Cake washi topped with a narrow strip of Sweet Sugarplum glimmer paper. The greeting is from the 'Made with Love' stamp set with the stars from the 'Perpetual Calendar' stamp set stamped off across it in Sweet Sugarplum ink.

Total Cuteness

Hi there

I've been having a play with the 'Moon Baby' stamp set from the new Occasions Catalogue. This has to be one of THE cutest stamp sets for welcoming a new baby, that Stampin' Up! have released. I'm giving you advance warning of cuteness overload!

I took up the challenge to make a baby girl card with this stamp set, after one of my lovely team members mentioned that it seemed to be primarily used in baby boy cards. In the end, I made one of each, although the second one is really gender neutral. In case you haven't seen it, here is the stamp set. It has the 3 main line images that are perfect for colouring and a number of greetings.

Moon_Baby_Stamp_Set

You could use Stampin' Write markers, the new Watercolour Pencils or ink pads and Aqua Painter to colour these cute images. I chose to use my ink pads and Aqua Painter after stamping the image in Basic Gray Archival ink onto the Shimmery White card stock. I coloured just the moon on this image.  I stamped a second image on a scrap piece of Shimmery White and coloured just the baby this time. I fussy cut the image and popped it up over the baby on my art piece. I then stamped the baby again onto Blushing Bride card stock and fussy cut the onsie this time and then adhered it to the baby on my art piece.

Stampin' Up! Moon Baby - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I chose Blushing Bride as the feature colour for the card. The art piece is layered onto sparkly Blushing Bride Glimmer paper and finished with the matching stitched satin ribbon. The greeting is heat embossed in copper as it works so well with Blushing Bride. I love that Stampin' up! makes creating so easy with all the coordinating products.

Moon_Baby_Pink_Closeup

This pic shows the fussy cut baby popped up with the paper pieced onsie. I added some shading to the onsie with a marker and blender pen. Isn't it a cute image.

Moon_Baby_Pink_Env

I stamped the image of the toys on the envelope and coloured it with Copic markers.  In the background, you can also see the lovely copper embossing on the greeting.

Moon_Baby_Pink_Inside

For the inside, I've stamped the other baby image onto Shimmery White card stock and water coloured it as well. I finished it with a strip of Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper and some tiny rhinestones on the onesie.

Stampin' Up! Moon Baby - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I made the second card in exactly the same design, but this time I used Pool Party and Silver Glimmer for a boy/gender neutral option.

Finally, here is a pic of both the colour ways together. Which is your favourite?

CASE-ing the Catty - Babies & Kids

CTC_Blog_Banner_edited

Hi there

The crew are CASE-ing the Babies & Kids section of the new Annual Catalogue this week. I've been hanging out to break open the 'Baby Bear' stamp set ever since I first saw it at On Stage. I'm a 'bear person' from way back, having collected bears and made my own bears which I have on display in my craft room.

You may have come from Rachel's Blog, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

This is the Stampin' Up! sample from page 61 that I am CASE-ing today. Doesn't it look so huggable?

CTC85_SU_Sample

I have stayed fairly true to the layout, using Blushing Bride and Sahara Sand to create a feminine baby card. Baby Bear is a 3-step stamp set and the colours used are Sahara Sand, Soft Suede and Early Espresso. The 3 pieces are numbered in the order (1,2,3) in which they should be stamped, but I have personally found it easier to line up the stamps in the reverse order (3,2,1) as the darkest image is stamped laid down first. Experiment and work out which way is best for you.

Stampin' Up! Baby Bear for CASE-ing the Cattty (CTC85) - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I enjoyed decorating the inside, using the banner from 'Celebrate Today' in the corner and the greeting and cute bird from the 'Made with Love' stamp set to add some cute details.

CASE-ing the Catty - Sale-a-bration Favourite

CTC_Blog_Banner_edited

Hi there

It is Sunday again and the CTC Crew are taking inspiration from their favourite projects and stamps in the fabulous Sale-a-bration Catalogue.  There is sooooo much to love in this little catty, that it is hard to choose.

You may have come from Simone's blog, but if you are visiting me, you can join the trail here by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

Tonight I'm featuring the 'Honeycomb Happiness' stamp set on Page 15.  This little bird/chick is such a cutie and can be used for lots of occasions.

Screen Shot 01-17-16 at 05.39 PM

The actual project  I'm case-ing is this card on page 10 of the Sale-a-bration catty. I love the bright colours and the clean and simple layout on this card.  I decided to make a baby card and I have stayed fairly close to the basic layout.   Baby cards are often pastel, so I thought something bright and contemporary would work well with the cute chick. This is also a cute sweet stamp set to colour - very quick and easy. I have coloured the chick with Copic markers and then fussy cut and popped him/her up. I stamped the balloon onto the Melon Mambo floral DSP and then fussy cut and popped it up as well.  The 'peek-a-boo' greeting is from the new 'Suite Sayings' stamp set from the Occasions catalogue and the 'congrats' is from the 'Perfect Pairings' Sale-a-bration stamp set. This is another really useful and versatile set with sentiments that you can mix and match.

CASE-ing the Catty Blog Hop - For Baby

Hi there

We are CASE-ing the Catty again on this Friday evening and are taking our inspiration from the Baby section on pages 31 - 38 of the Annual Catalogue.

You may have come from Julia's blog, but if not, you can start the journey here and continue to the next blog using the button at the bottom of this post.

There are lots of cute things in this section of the catalogue, but I kept going back to page 37 and looking at the yellow card with the onesie coming out of the circle.  This is where I started, but I then went on a journey and came up with the shaker card below. Isn't funny how the creative process evolves.

Stampin' Up! 'Something for Baby' Shaker Card - Judy May - Just Judy Designs

I have used a soft colour combo of Sahara Sand and Blushing Bride and lots of white. The solid onesie image comes from the 'Something for Baby' stamp set. To add some texture to the image, I used the 'stamp kissing' technique with the 'Dots for Days' background stamp to create the soft polka dot effect. This is a simple but effective technique to add a pattern to a solid image by kissing the inked solid stamp with the dry patterned stamp. Not all of the ink is removed by the dry patterned stamp, so you will get a soft and subtle result.

The 'confetti' in the shaker is a mixture of Silver and Blushing Bride Sequin Trim, stars from the Metallics Sequins Assortments and hearts cut from Blushing Bride, Sahara Sand and Dazzling Diamonds with the retired Hearts Border punch. TIP: If you are using shapes cut from glimmer paper, turn them all over to have the bling facing up before putting the lid on your shaker. It is worth the effort as they won't be able to flip over to the wrong side once the lid is on.

I have decorated the inside with the baby carriage stamp from the same set. I did not have a 'congratulations' stamp that was the right size and style so I printed this one in Early Espresso from my computer. See my Tips and Hints if you are not familiar with how to print the Stampin' Up! colours on your computer.

I also liked the layout of the card at the bottom right of page 35, so on the spur of the moment this afternoon I decided to make a more gender neutral baby card using this card for inspiration. The colour combo is Mint Macaron and white with a tiny bit of Tip Top Taupe.  I have added a few little details (I can't help myself!), but hopefully it would still be OK for either gender. Apologies for the lighting on this photo, as I ran out of daylight.

Sweet Baby Bumblebee

Hello

In the last few days, Stampin' Up! has been holding its Leadership conference in the US.  I have been inspired by all the crafting sessions that were included in the conference. It is great to see products demonstrated by the people who helped to design them - so many more ideas than what you immediately think of.

The card I am going to share is a CASE of one presented by Shelli, that really appealed to me. It is just so cute and such a great idea for using the 'Baby Bumblebee' stamp set, which I had already purchased.  I don't get to make a lot of baby cards, but I love the soft but unisex colour combo from the new 'Sweet Dreams' designer paper. I also broke out the 'Celebrate Baby' stamp set for the greetings.

Baby_Bumblebee_2

The base card is Lost Lagoon and I love the cute cloud design paper. I stamped the 'Baby Bumblebee' in Smoky Slate ink and then coloured the stripes with the lightest of the Coastal Cabana Blendabilities and face in Blush. This gives a much softer look than black ink. The 'bee' pieces (wings and antennae) were trimmed off and then popped into a cute papoose made from one the coordinating papers from 'Sweet Dreams'.

Did you know that there are quite a few Stampin' Up! ink pads that you can use with the Blendabilities alcohol markers? This gives you so much flexibility in the look that you can get. All of these Stampin' Pads can be used with Blendabilities:

Always Artichoke
Baked Brown Sugar
Blushing Bride
Calypso Coral
Coastal Cabana
Crisp Cantaloupe
Crumb Cake
Crushed Curry
Daffodil Delight
Garden Green

Hello Honey
Marina Mist
Melon Mambo
Lost Lagoon
Old Olive
Pear Pizzazz
Pink Pirouette
Pistachio Pudding
Pool Party
Pumpkin Pie

Sahara Sand
Smoky Slate
So Saffron
Soft Sky
Tangelo Twist
Tangerine Tango
Tempting Turquoise
Wild Wasabi
Wisteria Wonder

I always decorate my cards inside, even if very simply. I have left the inside blank so I can choose to add another greeting once the gender is known.

Baby_Bumblebee_Inside

Of course, this layout would also look cute in traditional baby colours as well, but it is always good to have a unisex card on hand.  This one will be going to my lovely Podiatrist who is having a baby in a few months.

Freshly Made #89 & Sneak Peaks

Hi there

Today I have a card for this week's Freshly Made #89 sketch by Rita. It is a great sketch and one I'm sure I will use again. Here it is:

FMS_89
I have taken the opportunity to do some colouring with this fabulous Noah's Ark stamp - 'Two by Two'.  I have used the MDS Stamp Brush to print it onto Blending Card and coloured it with Copics. This is such a great option for line images.

I also have a couple of sneak peaks of items from the new Annual Catalogue that is launched in Australia on 2 July.  Before we get to that, here is the card:

Freshly_Made_89
The first sneak peak is the gingham flag, which is a fabulous new Gingham wheel stamp, which I have stamped  in Strawberry Slush, one of the new In Colours.    The second sneak peak is the matching paler Strawberry Slush button.  This is made with the new 'Simply Pressed Clay', which you can colour and then press into a mold and pop out the button. There are 3 sizes and this is the middle size. It is a firm rubber texture when dry, but you can still put a needle through the holes to thread the twine through, as I have done.  Now you can create matching buttons for every project!   This is the inside of card, where I have used the Gingham wheel again.

New Baby

Hello

I'm sure you have heard the excuse 'the dog ate my homework'?  Well, my excuse is that we got an Apple TV for Christmas and as a result, the 'gremlins' ate all of our peak Internet quota for the rest of the month.  I've been relegated to basic text emails and getting up at 6am to download my mail for the last 20 days and it has been agony!  How did we ever do without broadband Internet? Needless to say, the new quota starts today and there is lots to catch up on.

A lovely lady I know (who is my Podiatrist) is having a baby in the next 2 weeks, so I thought I would get organised and make a card for her. I found Jackie Topa's cute Side Step Dresser card.  Not knowing the sex of the baby, I wanted a unisex card and this is what I came up with.

Baby_Boy_Dresser_2
I love Bazzill for these types of projects as it is very sturdy and I love the linen texture.  The main colour is Pool Party and pale lemon (Copic) with a touch of Island Indigo.  It has taken me a while to get into the new In Colours, but now I'm in love with Pool Party. Here are the rest of the details.

Project Details
Stamps Easy Events, Button Buddies, A Slice of Life (Retired Hostess set)
Card stock & Papers Bazzill White Linen, Pool Party, Daffodil Delight, XPress-IT Blending cardstock
Ink Memento Black, Pool Party, Island Indigo
Accessories Basic Pearls, Pool Party Ruffled Ribbon, Spotted Brads
Tools     Beautiful Wings Embosslit, Big Shot, Modern Label punch, Curly Label punch, Carl corner punch, Dimensionals, Sponge dauber, Stampin' Write markers, Copic markers

Surprisingly, my husband thought it was cute, but definitely for a boy. Back to the drawing board to make one for a girl and what better excuse (as if I need one!) to go with one of my favourite colour combos - pink and brown.  This is what I came up with.

Baby_Girl_Dresser_2
I 'fluffed' around for way too long with the bear, but I'm quite happy with it in the end, although I'm concerned it is a little bit dark.  I recut the oval punch outs for the arms and legs to get the slimmer proportions. The sparkly knobs on the drawers are silver Glimmer brads, coloured with a Copic marker as are the tiny rhinestones on the bear's shirt.  I love that you can colour a lot of things to match with Copics. Here are the rest of the details.

Project Details
Stamps Petite Pairs, A Slice of Life (Retired Hostess Set)
Card stock & Papers Bazzill White Linen, Soft Suede, Whisper White, Pink Piroette, Sweet Always DSP (Retired), Basic Black
Ink Soft Suede, Pretty in Pink
Accessories Rhinestones, 1/8" Regal Rose Ribbon, Glimmer Basics Brads, Scrap of lace (from stash)
Tools     Beautiful Wings Embosslit, Big Shot, Modern Label punch, Curly Label punch, Oval punches,  Circle punches, Small Heart punch,  Dimensionals, Sponge daubers, Stampin' Write markers, Copic markers, Fine black marker, White Gel pen

Have a good week and thanks for stopping by.

Baby Steps

Hi there

Well, the Autumn weather seems to have arrived with a vengeance in Melbourne.  The days have been decidedly chilly and grey, unfortunately.  I'm hoping that the weatherman is correct in forecasting slightly warmer days at the end of the week - I'm not ready for winter yet!

Before the end of the Summer Mini catalogue, I succumbed to the cute 'Baby Steps'  a la Carte stamp. Today I put it to use for the first time, to make a card for a former work colleague.  He and his wife recently celebrated the arrival of a little girl - Asher.  I decided on a simple, sweet colour scheme of pink and grey.  It matches the cute little outfit that I bought as well.

I'm working 4 days at the moment, so back to the 'salt mine' tomorrow.

Enjoy your week.
