I've been in Perth for the last few days and yesterday I attended the Stampin' Up! OnStage event with one of lovely my team members, Maxine. It was her first Stampin' Up! event and it was fabulous to be able to share the excitement with her. We got the brand new 2017-18 Annual Catalogue in our hands to drool over - yes, there is much to drool over! This is one of the many things I love about being a Demonstrator; you get to see all the new product in advance, plus get to order some of it as well. It is always lovely to catch up with ladies from our team who live interstate and to share ideas with other Demonstrators with our swaps.
As I had to leave home early, I brought my swaps to Perth in pieces and spent a crazy couple of days putting them together. It always amazes me how long it takes - I think I need to start them 3 months earlier (although I know I never will, lol) or make them a lot simpler (that's not me either, sigh). However, I got to sit and chat with my lovely MIL, Betty while I put them together. I did a masculine and feminine version of the same layout, with a just a few changes to embellishments.
This is the masculine version in Island Indigo, Basic Black and Smoky Slate with Copper foil accents. The Smoky Slate layer has been embossed with the Hexagons Dynamic embossing folder, which is perfect for masculine cards. I have cut an extended panel with the largest of the squares from the Stitched Shapes framelits and stamped the birthday greeting from the 'Balloon Adventures' stamp set. I inked up the bottom half of the greeting with Island Indigo and then used the Basic Black Stampin' Write marker on the top 2 lines and the 'you'. By the time I had finished stamping these panels, my hands were a rather ugly green/black colour.
He is a close-up that shows up the details a bit better. The smaller stitched square in Island Indigo was stamped in Versamark with one of the designs from the 'Timeless Textures' stamp set for a bit of extra interest. The stream of dragonflies were cut from Copper foil (although it looks a bit like gold) and I also used it as an accent in the flags and the little dots (masculine bling, lol).

The feminine version is in Blushing Bride, Sahara Sand and white with the same copper dragonflies and flag detail. This time I've used the 'Petal Burst' embossing folder and the greeting from 'Butterfly Basics' is stamped in Soft Suede. I've added the Blushing Bride Stitched Satin ribbon around the stamped panel and some pearls on the flags for a girly feel.
