Painted Petals Thank You

Today I have a cute thank you card and matching gift bag using the 'Painted Petals' stamp set that we made in class last week. The top section of the card has been embossed with the Large Polka Dot embossing folder and the bottom section stamped. This set has such a great group of accessory stamps to the main floral images that allow you to create your own borders and backgrounds. I love the 'lines' stamp as it gives a nice hand drawn look and the photopolymer makes it so easy to line it up by eye.

For the inside I have created a little border of flowers. Stamp off the edge of the card stock (before you add the mat) to create a shorter set of stems than the stamp.

To complete the ensemble is this cute gift bag made using the new Mini Treat Bag Thinlits from the Occasions Catalogue. There are 2 thinlits that make up the treat bag - a large one that forms the front and one flap and a smaller one for the second flap. I have cut 2 of the large die so that the flap will form the side gussets of the bag. The flap is 5.1cm(2 1/16") in width from the side fold line, so I scored at 1cm (1/2") from the flap edge and then scored 3.1cm  (1 1/4") from the edge.  On the second score line, finish 2.5cm (1") from the bottom and then using a ruler and scoring tool draw a diagonal line from the end of your score line to each corner of the flap.  This will help the gusset fold in nicely when you clip it together at the top. Make sure you burnish the existing score lines and score the new lines before you emboss your bag. I have used the Large Polka Dot embossing folder to coordinate with the card. You will need to create a base for the bag, so cut a piece 4.2cm x 11.5cm (1 5/8" x 3 3/4") and score at 1cm (3/8") on each end. Attach each of the side gussets to corresponding front/back panel and then add the base. I found Tombow glue the easiest for this task. It sounds a bit involved, but it is really quick and easy once you have the pieces in your hand. It creates a nice sized bag and is very sturdy made in card stock.

The Mini Treat Bag Thinlits set also has a large number of extra pieces you can use to decorate the bag or use in your other projects.  I have cut out the 'enjoy' to add to the tags on the front, which are clipped to the bag with a gold metallic mini clothespin. It really is very sweet.
